What do you think Cherry Coloured Funk is all about? It's intense.
Surreal!

it's my most hated cocteau twins song.
it's slow, it drags and i find liz's vocals to be boring and dull.
there are so many better cocteau tracks.

I think it's about doing too many drugs.

Beetles and eggs and blues and pour a little everything else
You steam our unstable eyes and glass
Not get passed off through my bird lips as good news
Still we can find our love down from behind
Down far behind this fabulous, my turn rules
Beetles and eggs and blues and bells and eggs and then blues
Beetles and eggs and blues and pour a little everything else
You steam our unstable eyes and glass
Not get passed off through my bird lips as good news
You'll have the hardest black and dullest knife
We hanged your pass and start being as you in ecstasty
Still being cried and laughed at before
Should I be sewn in hugged I can by not saying
Still being cried and laughed at from light to blue
And should I be hugged and tugged down through this tiger's masque
And should I be sung and unbroken by not saying
You mind not saying
He'll have the hardest black and dullest ignite
Still being cried and laughed at from behind me, from gains
We hanged your pass and star being as you in ecstasy
Still being cried and laughed at from behind me, from gains
Should I be sung and unbroken by not saying
Still being cried and laughed at from behind me, from gains
Hugged and tugged down through this tiger's masque for key

But so many others like it Leesa - I don't think it's long enough!

I'd rather not know what she's singing coz the lyrics are poo.
"I want to love all the bumblebees"
"match of cherrycoal will burn this whole madhouse down"

Where have these lyrics come from has someone just scribbled down their own interpretation?

i have loads of my lyrical interpretations online at ct.org in the lyrics section. another great website for ct lyrics is:

But for the record no CT lyrics have been officially published have they?
I mean did Liz even write them down?
mmmender
May-12-06, 8:40 AM
liz has them all written down but she's never published any....aside from the odd sentence found inside album sleeves.

I think her lyrics are inventive, fun, and really out there.
I think that's why I like these kids.
I think Cherry ought to be longer.
Liz, get yer pencil and paper out. I want an extended version :-)

Oh, I LIKE CCFunk.
Lyrical conjecture aside, I find it pulsing and languid and dreamy and I have to take care not to close my eyes and squirm in my seat while driving...
I've always wanted to make sweet love to it but never have and prob' never will....

I like CCF just fine, and I always interpreted it "isinglass" not "eyes and glass"--much more poetic, methinks.
(the shiny mica connotation of the word, not the fish guts one)

I really don't think Baddy is a "floosy" just because she may be a sensitive, passionate, generous CT fan who wants to make dreams come true!!;-)

I don't give a flip about Liz's lyrics, the magic is in the tonal inflections of her voice....it's mouth music.

I actually love it and I think it's more about a mood than anything else.

I think it's about post partum depression. I think the lyric is "passed through my burned lips." Funk means depression--it is quite moving, the most moving song on HOLV besides Frou Frou Foxes, in my opinion.
Cherry-Coloured Funk is a flavoured shade of sound and it tastes delicious to me, thank you.
I don't care what WORDS she's singing; she's SOUNDING just right.
I actually love it and I think it's more about a mood than anything else.
That is exactly how I feel
and now I think I'll got put it on.
yeah, the way i see it, if i was into the "lyrics", i'd be reading poetry, not listening to music. of course, good lyrics to a good song is a plus and bad lyrics to a good song will ruin it a bit, but generally I'm more concerned with what strings in my "heart" the songs pull. So, as for my concern, her lyrics are not too imporant. I am happy enough just making out a phrase or two sung by Liz every so often "wheezing and sneezing ten fold it blew apart"..

I find it quite uplifting and delicate and went through a phase of listening to it early morning. Ho hum..
