Had a rather pleasant surprise on Sunday night - I started to prepare for bed as the BBC kicked off a showing of the film "In Dreams" with the rather glorious Annette Bening. Lo and behold, the track "Dream Baby" ("Babies"? Whatever...) kicked off as the intro theme, with the GTO wailing the vocals.
A nice track which I've had for some time, but had never seen the film.
I still haven't - not even the gorgeous Ms Bening could tempt me to stay up and I couldn't be arsed to set the VHS player. Is it any good?

No idea Phil, not even heard of the track I think...
Now that i've helped you with that... on a similar note, I was watching that home makeover program (with Lawrence 'I'm a dandy highwayman' Llewelyn Bowen & the Oirish bloke), getting increasingly and pleasantly bongoed and they used a couple of Cocteau numbers on the soundtrack.
Think it was 'Aemilia' from Treasure and bits from a later number.
Extremely pleasant entertainment.
John.
.........you know, watching a night watchman in a box factory on his rounds would be great veiwing if it had HOLV as a sound track.:D

That's 'cos she hasn't met me yet....I suspect she'd stick with Warren Beatty, given the choice, though.

I stayed up to watch Winter Guest, and how annoying that they put Take Me With You on at the end grrrrr! wasnt even that good! None of the stuff Liz did even comes close to Cocteaus IMO

i remember buying the in dreams soundtrack when it came out, they had a big banner in virgin saying elizabeth frasers first solo recording since leaving Cocteau twins!!isnt it sad that since the soundtrack came out in1998 weve not even had a handful of new tracks from her. Even Kate bush has managed to release more in her 10 year absence from the spotlight

(Watch this, everybody...this is my new, restrained self, my attempt at being a nice, reasonable person).
Why, yes, GB, it is sad.
(See? See what I can do? Oh...hang on.....my rant gland has just kicked in.......).
Sad? It's a disgraceful waste of talent. This is the woman who, by all accounts, split CT because she wanted to follow a solo career.
And we're still waiting; while Simon and Robin have shown who REALLY held the balance of power in the band, the GTO seems to think that a "solo career" consists of warbling incoherently on less than a dozen tracks by other artists, alternated with browsing the stock of Bristol's Asda Wal-Mart and joining the Clifton Village Women's Institute.
This is mercifully short for me, as most veterans on here will attest to.

Well put. Couldn't agree with you more. Although I obviously feel the GTO has a rare talent, I would surmise that she needs a musical "foil", be that Robin and Simon, Massive Attack, or some other counterpart, to spur her onward to creativity.
In any case, Phil, now I understand what mmmender was referring to when she mentioned that I had "hit a nerve" when mentioning the delay on the long-awaited Liz solo LP on your other thread. ;)

So Robin and Simon were talking bollocks on the .com site in 1997 when they said exactly that?
