View Full Version : How long is the legacy?
I'm having a bit of Cocteaufest at work today as I'm the only one in the office. I'm playing all the albums in sequence and as I was driving in I got to wondering how many hours of music CT had produced i.e. if you added together all the unique songs (including official remixes) and played them end to end how long would it take?
Anybody care to hazard a guess?

well all of the albums (including moon & the melodies) and the ep's add up to 8 hours, 1 minute and 19 seconds.
an interesting note.....did you know that on the official website both milk & kisses and four calendar cafe are listed as being the exact same length at 41 minutes and 32 seconds long? when in actual fact four calendar cafe is 41 minutes, 32 seconds but m&K is actually 42 minutes, 48 seconds!
i'm sick in the head, aren't i?

i think it's time for an intervention.
take away my ebay status. take away my computer. take away my cd player. take away my cocteau twins collecti.......*convulsing* *foaming at the mouth*
Ahh yes, but some of the EP tracks appear on albums, some tracks appear on more than 1 album, some have different mixes to the album etc etc. Add in the various remixes that appear on some of the compilations plus things like the different recording of Serpentskirt on the Hong Kong M&K and it's a little more tricky to calculate.

david, unless you'd like to see this woman fall to her knees, break down and weep from spending hours trying to figure it out - please don't ask me to do it - cos you know i will.

Don't mind a woman falling to her knees in front of me, but can't be doing with the crying bit. As far as I know (and hope) I've never asked a woman do do something she didn't want to do so you're safe :D
Maybe the next group task after the discography is a definitive list of tracks.

Ha ha ha! I know that feeling very well. In the 7 years I've been producing computer animation, I think the total running time of all my work would be less than 15 minutes.
But you know, it could be worse. There could have been no running time at all.

well simon, at least you surpassed the "15 minutes of fame" by 7 hours and 45 minutes!!
(ok it was meant to be humourous)

- mmmender: hi. i see you're some kind of guru here. you work a lot and that's praiseworthy. i'm an obsessed fan, too. i usually try to get every song of my favorite bands, and then i make lists and compilations and everything.
- simon: i think 8 hours of great music are incredible. sometimes you just hear that one famous song (3:40 minutes) from an "artist", but with the cocteau's you have a lot more. and nobody would listen to those 8 hours in a row... (well, i think), so the effect of it is much larger because you hear an album today, another one tomorrow, etc.

kim, just be sure to always check the post date of the first post when you open a thread. unfortunately this program doesn't allow us to distinguish older threads from newer one's......but as i said, many of these threads are often bumped upon request.
sanvean, yes you could safely say that i am a severely obsessed cocteau twins fan.....guru i'm not so sure about.....! ;)

btw kim.......just a reminder that you can QUICKLY tell if you've already participated in a thread just by looking at the icon.....if it has a black dot in the centre of it then you have posted to it.....if it doesn't.....then you haven't.
