View Full Version : Guthrie/John Foxx collaboration
According to Vox magazine, our Robin is close to finishing a collaboration with former Ultravox singer John Foxx. Tracks on the "intense and moody but spacey and pastoral too" album include Mirrorball, My Life As An Echo, Empire Skyline and Estrellita.
Guthrie has also recorded 100 minutes of music for a second album with Harold Budd, "it'll be a beautiful record, very slow and gracious"
I thought Budd had retired?

I thought Budd had retired?
From live performances, Simon.
From live performances, Simon.
According to Sylvian's label which released his album Avalon Sutra, that was to be his last ever recording.
"Avalon Sutra brings to a conclusion thirty years of sustained musical activity. Asked for his reasons, Budd says only that he feels that he has said what he has to say. With characteristic humility, he concludes, “I don’t mind disappearing!”
Fucking good news

I want to get every single minute of this. Their collaboration has been amongst the best in instrumental music these last 20 years.

Budd will play the piabo at our funerals. All of us. It will be sad, but beautiful. My only regret will be that I'll never own THAT CD.
yes! fantastic news, all of it. I agree budd/guthrie collaborations are some of the best music in decades.

I'll be all over these as soon as they are available.
In related good news: Bill Nelson's 80s classic "Getting The Holy Ghost Across" (a.k.a. "On A Blue Wing" in the USA) will finally be released on CD for the first time in a remastered, expanded edition. That's BIG news as far as I'm concerned.

How cool would that be? John Foxx is legendary, he recently played glasgow (well, July) and i missed him.:-( Still, Gary Numan is doing a Telekon mini tour in Glasgow on 6th Dec so that'll be great.

Been a J-Foxx fan forEVER, One of the top best arty-punk wordsmiths of all time... (aside from E FRAZIER) Saw one of Ultravoxes last Shows closing out their 'Systems of Romance' tour in NYC at a place called 'Harrahs' ... That was a 'top 5'show' memory of alll time. Of cource Ultravox went to commercial candyassed-sap after he left.... To uninitiated Get any of 1st 3 Ultravoxes (on Island records and youll end up getting all his solo.
