So who's put their head above the parapet then?

To me, HOLV sounded drier, more muscular than the Blue Bell Knoll, but saying why I like it would be like trying to put a fence around a cloud.

How interesting! HOLV is my fave CT album and Fifty Fifty Clown is my fave track of all time.:-)

Fritter, where in South London are you?

Fritter

OK, but it would make compelling listening I reckon. I'm in the Road, River & Rail corner!

Road River and Rail is a close second to Pitch The Baby

Ketamine

It's the Abba-esque vocal arrangements that do it for me, unreal.

The programme will have an interview with Robin in it, and music
journalists and commentators, about 30 minutes long, and a couple of
short contributions from fans talking about favourite tracks. Recording
the interviews for it in the next few weeks and it will be broadcast on
BBC Radio Scotland sometime between February and March 2007. Presenter
is David Scott.

Road River and Rail is a masterpiece of writing IMO. Probably the best song of the second half of the CT career. I also have huge amount of time for Fifty Fifty Clown. I think these two best show off the intelligence behind the band as well as the 'wow' factor.

for me it has to be "Pitch the Baby"

- the bass riff that grabs my inside and twists hard till I groan in ecstacy
- the vocals that make me think of fluffy clouds floating over West Yorkshire Fells
- and that "hang" at the end with a "flanged" guitar chop chord just makes me smile and curl up in a ball!

plus it reminds me of an especially happy time in my life .... which was nice!

Fifty Fifty Clown
Road River and Rail
Pitch the Baby
I Wear Your Ring

2nd tier (like quite a bit, but not as much as the above. in relative admiration order this time):

Iceblink Luck
HOLV
Frou-Frou Foxes..
Fotzepolitic (growing on me)
Cherry-coloured Funk

3rd tier:

Wolf in the Breast (meh)

Liz collapsing buildings with her lungs... lol. Well put.

Road River And Rail for me, but then again Cherry Coloured Funk was a song I found SO catchy when this album came out. I remember being driven to school with that in my head, and I just wanted to run out of the car and get to my stereo to hear it!!

I love it when I find songs like that.. It doesn't last of course, but whilst you have it fresh it's so good.

may be the case - I got an email from Carol saying she'd be in touch in the New Year!

How easy/difficult would it be to arrange an audio download of the finished program to be placed on this site/servers?

How easy/difficult would it be to arrange an audio download of the finished program to be placed on this site/servers?If it's made available online it would probably be fairly easy. Otherwise if it's only going to be transmitted on the radio we'd need someone in the UK to copy it then we can work out getting it to my server after that.

Carol mentioned she had been trying to contact you Leesa but was having problems co-ordinating things, I hope she got hold of you. She very kindly offered to send out transcription CD's of the whole thing to those who took part so im sure anyone who misses the broadcast will get a copy of it somehow.
I must say, chatting down the phone blethering away about favourite tracks without prompts is quite hard!!! And Jeek, yeah, the beginning of Abba's track 'The Visitors' (before the beat comes in) could be Liz singing!!

I contributed to the show on Monday.

Carol chatted with me on the phone about how I got into the band, what songs I liked and so on - this was not recorded, but helped break the ice. She asked me if I could have a think and she'd call me back later in the afternoon to record my thoughts. I had about 10 minutes to think about it as I was at work, so I wasn't best prepared. Thank god for my iPod though.

Carol told me that unfortunately (but not surprisingly) Liz hasn't contributed to the show, but she got some great stuff from Robin. She also said that she was new to the band when she started working on the radio show, but has become a firm fan since starting to research the band's career.

I couldn't speak about Road River and Rail (my favourite track) as she already had too much on that song (cheers guys!). She was looking for thoughts on Iceblink Luck and I Wear Your Ring, which I gave.

I found it all a bit strange - you do forget it's being recorded but I'm not really looking forward to hearing the final show, I'll just *die* of embarrassment (unless I wind up on the cutting room floor of course!).

The series begins on Radio Scotland on 22 February - don't take this as gospel but I think the Heaven or Las Vegas episode will be on 8 March. I'm sure we'll hear nearer the time though.

Finally, I asked Carol if there was any chance of a national BBC radio or TV station doing a show on the band, something I actually can't believe has never been done before now. She didn't realise it was 25 years since their debut album was released. She did say she would pitch the idea to Radio 2, which I think is great, however the lead-in times for such shows can be up to a year. Fingers crossed something comes of it.
