I've been listening to Treasure a bunch lately and it sounds so raw and powerful. Just curious what you favorite song is. Mine is Ivo. Love how is starts out and how it keeps its intensity.
Ivo! Or Donimo, depending on my mood. But then there's Aloysius...when I'm not listening to Pandora, of course.

Too hard to choose. Maybe Aloysius. That's a right corker, it is.

i think that the bass line to "Lorelei" is sublime. that song moves along so fantastically.

I don't think I'd describe "Treasure" as raw. Garlands possibly but not Treasure.

To me, Treasure is a monument to the Yamaha DX-7 FM bell sound. I love the album, but I can't get past that.
Ahhhh...the DX-7. The favoured synth of may an 80's band.

Every 80s band, one would suppose. ;)
cue up: Cities in Dust - Siousxie & the Banshees: DX7 bell heaven!

Bell heaven :crying:
Drum machine sounds more dated to me than anything else on Treasure. Great album all through! Pick? Lorelei or Donimo.

Oh, now I'm going to have to listen to it again to spot that bell sound! I know there are bells in Pearly Dewdrops (it's hard to avoid them) but Treasure? Which tracks?

"Lorelei" is heavy on the DX-7 bells

Ivo as well
Ivo gets my vote as I've been listening to it alot lately.
Lorelei, Amelia, Aloysius and Donimo are close behind.

Several. There's a particular timbre to the DX-7 bell that makes it VERY distinctive to anyone who knows their way around synthesizers. Cities In Dust is full of what I would call a 'perfect textbook example' of the Yamaha DX-7 bell sound. It was a factory preset that a lot of people overused to death in the 80s. From what I've read, the DX-7 was such a bitch to program, that most people simply used the factory presets almost exclusively (which most synth players hate to do, for reasons of individualism)
Peep-bo, peach blow, Pandora, pompadour...

it punches the chorus on Ivo
I was always fond of 'Pandora'- a great big sexy bubblebath, that tune

It must be just you. I think Cocteau Gold.

I think "What a God-awful noise".
Not one of my favourite albums.

It's quite a brash sounding album even on the quieter tracks don't you think?

Though IVO is superb, the best track on the album. IMO
I really don't like that album, pressed against the wall Lorelei is my fav track. I love the footage of it from the OGWT where Simon is playing guitar and Robin is playing bass...

Persephone hooked me when I first heard it, and it stills has the same impact. Treasure was the first Cocteau Twins Album I bought & quickly bought the back catalogue. Treasure was my favourite for a few years but it's been Garlands for as long as I can remember.

Persephone, always, since the album was released. I hadn't listened to Treasure for some time but I had an iPod moment last week and stuck it on and was reminded of how great that song is. Persephone is almost a pop song and Liz sounds incredible. Further down I also like Lorelei, Donimo and Ivo but I never liked Treasure as much as Head over Heels.

Lorelei...
I was totally floored the first time I heard that song, not even a half year ago. I was totally surprised with the vocals. But the opening trio is fan-fricking-tastic. Beatrix might come in second.
I'll pass on this poll...

i have picked "ivo", though i like the BBC sessions version better; the mix is clearer, though i prefer the intro of the album version. "pandora" would be my second choice.
