just to let anyone know, I checked why the reissues haven't been made available in Japan - apparently because of the state of the market there, not many Japanese labels are taking on foreign licenses (all very complicated).. however, we have a deal with JVC, who will be getting the reissues into shops in the next 2-3 weeks, all going well (so I'm guessing it'll just be the UK versions)

hope that's some help anyway

Thanks for the info ,Mojo . Just today , I checked a few other shops with no
luck.
Apparently you can find the imported versions in a few specialised shops in Tokyo but some fans are ordering directly from stores in the UK.
I ' ll wait then and see what happens !

May I ask what took you to Japan in the first place? It's THE place I want to visit.

Just as an afterthought, you could do a twisted version of the old Burt Bacharach song.

"Do you know the way to Jose-San.........?"

Weeell , I came here to study, then landed a series of very good teaching /
language-related jobs , had a good environment and it seems I' m here to stay !

Japanese Cocteau releases are difficult to find in record stores .
You ' re more likely to encounter UK or more frequently American copies .
In big shops which still have a few Cocteaus in their racks , a precious handful ,they ' re only selling American releases of 4AD albums for
1,650 yen !!!!! , which makes me think they wanted to get rid of those copies
to prepare for the remasters.
My particular - and now disastrous - obi story is that when I bought the
Japanese CD single for Athol Brose , couldn ' t care at all for the Obi with the car pic on it and threw it away immediately.
After some time , I realised how important obis are !
Shows what kind of collector I am !
( Gimme the music ! )

a japanese cd without an obi is virtually worthless to me!

Very true , a Japanese CD without the thang drops value dramatically , but then I never ever thought of parting with my Athol Brose ;)
I became smarter though and keep the obi of the Garlands and HOH Japanese vynil.
Oh , the lyrics of Garlands !
Wonder who was the pseudo - English conversation teacher on a working holiday that commited the atrocity !

Kinda reminds me of my experience with Spain. I taught Engl. as a 2nd lang. there back in 1990, thus beginning my long love affair with Spain, the Spanish language, flamenco, and so many other things Iberian. A piece of my corazon is still there. Gotta get back there again one day.... So, MJ, are you from Spain originally? If so, which part? --Alan

Hallelujah!!
Yesterday I *SAW* the remastered CDs in Osaka's Tower Records !!!!!
Picture me gleeful!
Didn' t buy any but I'm having second thoughts about HOH because it simply looks beautifully stunning!
Not too fond of the Garlands look or Victorialand with the band's name
written at the front.
The pic is also less nice!
