I, and many others, agree that "Love's Easy Tears" is one of the absolute best Cocteau Twins releases. It just seems to give the listener a small sample of their best work. Personally, I wish it were not just an EP but instead a full-length album, would you agree?
What do you think is the best track on "Love's Easy Tears"?

I don't think I can pick one. The whole EP is one big memory for me.

I completely agree, the vinyl is amazing.
Check out the thread (http://www.cocteautwinsforums.com/showthread.php?t=14801) I just started on the very subject of formats!

Those Eyes, That Mouth... but only by the slightest whisker from Orange Appled
Nah, I like EPs - one of the great things about buying Cocteau Twins records (at least until HOLV) was that you didn't get a single plus a couple of duff b-sides. You got a whole EP of new music - twenty or so self-contained minutes of where the band was currently at.
And this, I think, helped to define the differences between the full-length albums, because songs didn't get held back for inclusion on a subsequent album.
The vinyl didn't have Orange Appled btw.
Great record - nice sleeve art. Not in same class as Sunburst though.

I agree. The EPs are a valid and more succinct format - especially for their earlier sound which felt very intense (Sunburst and Snowblind and Aikea Guinea being good examples).
It was a shame that Sunburst was tacked onto the end of Head Over Heels when it first came out on CD; a bit of a disservice to Sunburst, I always thought. I think it stands on its own well enough.

Sigh's Smell of Farewell. It's the best thing they ever did.

I'd have to agree with Fornie.

Yes, but only for 24 hours - then I'll untie you and let you free.

kinky!
Funny thing about this EP.
If I look at the sleeve the tracks are listed in this order:
1- Love's Easy Tears
2- Those Eyes, That Mouth
3- Sigh's Smell Of Farewell
4- Orange Appled
But if I play it on my computer, the track play in this order:
1- Love's Easy Tears
2- Orange Appled
3- Sigh's Smell Of Farewell
4- Those Eyes, That Mouth
So for a long time I thought my favorite track was Those Eyes, That Mouth, but I'm not so sure anymore.

You'll have to set us both free.

...but it was on a free 7" single given away with Melody Maker around the same time.

Yeah, then bundled with the later CD version. I have that Maker 7" back in Blighty - providing the storage facility haven't dropped yet another box.
Does anyone know if it came from the same recording sessions? Maybe it was withheld from the 12" to give Melody Maker an exclusive? The Maker always was very pro- Cocteau Twins. Sutherland being Editor and all that.

Didn't the US version of the 12" single feature Orange Appled? If so, that ought to confirm it.

I had to go with "Those Eyes, That Mouth". I agree that it should've been a full length album, how cool would that have been?
So which one really is the second track on the CD? Those Eyes, That Mouth or Orange Appled? Can someone tell me?

It's Those Eyes....
Your computer is playing them in alphabetical order.
The listing on the insert is correct.

The second track on the CD is Those Eyes, That Mouth. Orange Appled is the fourth track. Look here:
http://www.cocteautwins.org/singles/let.html
But I don't think that the detail on that page is quite complete. For instance, an old girlfriend of mine definitely had a US CD single of Love's Easy Tears, which came in a full-size jewel case, and featured Orange Appled, some time before the box set came out.
Just had a quick scout around online, and here's a copy:

You would think. The tracks play in the same order on my CD player. But until I put the CD in my computer I had no song name to associate with the one playing other than those written on the sleeve. In WMP though, the second track is listed as Orange Appled.

Too spooky!!!
See?

Apparently it's a Windows Media Player fuck up.
And now that things are clear, my favourite track is indeed Those Eyes, That Mouth. Which means I voted wrong.

In that order, the first letter of each track spells LOST. Coincidence? :dunno:
Those Eyes, That Mouth, but in fact they're all great songs. Their live performance was awesome in Utrecht, Netherlands.
This was sooo hard. I agree with Elysium too many memories but for the sake of voting I choose Orange Appled, it reminds me of Christmas and good feelings, Those Eyes That Mouth comes in a strong second though.

Only in terms of that being the alphabetical order of the initial letters.
However, this prompts me to pose another question:
If the titles on any other CT records are put into alphabetical order, do we see any other words?
New thread time?

I'd have to agree with Fornie.
I went home to listen to it, I meant to say Those Eyes, That Mouth. I always get those two mixed up for some reason. I don't really like Sighs...
For me, it's always been the title track, which was the second CT track I ever heard, and the first I recorded and listened to for an extended period of time. Followed closely by Those Eyes, That Mouth.
Those Eyes, That Mouth.
I still find it hard to associate Orange Appled with this EP as I only had it on vinyl for several years and it wasn't on the UK 12" single. I did eventually buy the US CD single with it on, but for me, like others, Orange Appled belongs on the Melody Maker 7".
I love the EPs...the quality was consistently high - Cocteau Twins are one of the few bands who made me listen to their B sides because of this, and the reward was huge.
