Just out of curiousity... who do you think sounds similar to Elizabeth Fraser whether in terms of vocal style or voice quality? I'm not yet completely settled on this, but I think maybe very early Sarah McLachlan.

But there CAN 'T be a similar voice !!!!!!:D
Likely candidates in th past have included Harriet from The Sundays and
Allison from the Cranes but I tend to think of them as contemporaries working
with their vocal abilities.
Bjork has done amazing things and Liz likes her.
Polly Harvey scares her according to the Melody Maker " Vocal Heroes"
article with Liz .
In that article she chose Nina Simone , acknowledging that it was
Lawrence from Felt who introduced to her music .

Yes, Bjork is indeed incredible. I would love to see some sort of duet between her and Liz.

Not in terms of music but in terms of voice I sometimes think Elizabeth sounds a bit like Loreena McKennit, one of my favs from high school. I don't think Loreena has as high a range, though.

Yeah, too high for me. And then on the extreme low-end you've got Lisa Gerrard/DCD, whom no one's mentioned yet. I swear, if she'd just bring it up an octave I *might* love her almost as much as Liz! --Alan

that low bit she does towards the end of host of seraphim is amazing...dont knock Lisa, much more power in her vocals than Liz but Liz is the better singer more feeling and warmth in her voice not to mention range
