Given the recent chate about which tunes we like on HoL...I wanted to see a poll...

Sorry, I wanted to make a pool with 13 choices:
10 tracks from HoL
2 extras
1 choice for ALL...

so if you want all, you just have to click them all...I never start threads and this is my first poll..so here goes nothing...

All but Heaven Or Las Vegas... we'll have to move than one to an EP or so...

I'd keep everything...to my ears HorLV was the cocteaus crowning achievement of perfection. It's also their most "upbeat" record. As for the b-sides I think "Watchlar" is briliant, "Mizake the Mizane" is pretty, if nothing to special to me. Just my two cents.

The funny thing is to me the most "influential" cocteaus releases historically (for other reasons - different thread really - but I'll bring it up here) were Treasure, Victorialand, and Love's Easy Tears. But, Heaven had the cocteaus really nailing their sound and they achieved such a consistency of brilliance on this record, in my opinion.

I consider HoLV the Twins most quote 'american/top 40' unquote album- so keeping or dropping tracks seems to me an empty pastime... It's a nice record, yet somehow restrained in the drama/operatic/linguistic department, which is what Ive always listened to the Twins for......... y'know??:D

I think "Watchlar" is briliant

While I don't feel that HOLV is their best album, I can't find anything on it that I'd like to toss. Ask the same question of FCC, and I'll have a different answer! ;)

Never! ;)

Actually watching the poll numbers this way isn't so terrible..kinda like horse races or something.....each song is discarded by at least one person...but Frou-Frou seems to have a slight lead at the moment...

The results in the poll are certainly even.
Luckily the Cocteaus never asked us for any input on this album, otherwise
the whole thing would have gone kaputt! :p ;)
I find it difficult myself and cannot bring me to answer this .
Some songs are better than others , some are simply brilliant .
Road , River and Rail was quite good live,I have to say ,the music carrying you away in circles .
I remember reading that when Simon first heard the tittle , he joked about how he thought that Liz had finally found some sort of logic to songwrting ,
for he understood " Road , River and REEL " !!!
" I Wear Your Ring " is a phonetics tour de force , the way Liz makes her song sound so French while still singing in her very special " English ".
"Pitch the Baby " is one of the most danceable tunes they ever created
and , and , I think I ' ll stop here . . .
but beware cos I ' m not working today :D
