Why on earth Head over Heels ????????????
I wouldn't throw any but I ' ve never been too fond of Milk and Kisses . . .

( Waits for lapidation . . . )

I've said it before, but I'll say it again.........

FCC, no hesitation. "Bluebeard", "Know Who You Are" and "Summerhead" are the only worthwhile tracks that I'd have kept. The rest of the album is far too touchy-feely.

I may well schedule you for a spanking for disliking "M&K", though, MJ.

Let me see, Phil . . .
Tomorrow I 'm busy but Saturday afternoon sounds good .
You can always punish me old fashion :
listen to M&K five times a day, say the Lord 's prayer immediately after
and write a hundred times the lyrics to , well , which song do you suggest ?
I like some of the songs and some others just showed me the way to the
Cocteaus fading from the music scene.
Tishbite for instance , nice tune etc. but no compromise musically .
Not working on a Thursday is proving dangerous . . .

If my house was on fire I might throw Head Over Heels out, quickly followed by myself.

I think every album has something awesome on board. But FCC was the first time they stopped adding value to their back catelogue. Previous to that, each album was a marked departure to the last. Not so with FCC.

However I'd spare some tracks from FCC (see other thread). If it were possible I'd take my favourites from Heaven/LV, FCC and Milk/Kisses and make the perfect album from that. The rest could be tossed. It IS possible of course. Maybe I'll make that CD-R tonight!

I think I'll hold onto the albums though!

You probably all think I'm mad? I detect a strong bias here for the later career stuff.

I'm with you all the way! I think if you culled 3 to 4 tracks from each of the last 3 LP's you would have one heck of an album.

That's exactly what I was thinking Matt.

So now all we need to argue about is which tracks, right? :D

i'm with Phil on this one........FCC easily ranks as my largest CT disappointment.

why?

because FCC compromises the original brilliance of the CT experimentation with abstract lyrics.

actually, imo, the melodies are less than inspired on FCC as well.....i often wonder if perhaps they blew their melodic wad on HoLV, and this was something of a scrappy or contractual "second wind" album; it seems clear to me that the band was, in a way, still catching their collective breaths after the daring scope and range of HoLV.

of the two albums, FCC plays rather like a patronizing, albeit ultra-conservative, kissin cousin.

Why no Victorialand option? Easily the least attractive of all the albums.

If this were a legitimate poll rather than a statement of distaste for HOH, it would be like Sophie's Choice!

I love HOH; though, I do have to be in a certain state of mind to enjoy it thoroughly.

gee this isn't a loaded question or anything....interesting response choices.....

i listen to HOH much more than Garlands...so there's your answer...although i wouldn't throw it out...

it intoxicates me.

I can only really listen to FCC when I'm really depressed but only because I find it such a depressing album to listen to (and probably not depressing in the way it was intended)

Great descriptions BTS, I'm very with you there! FCC is quite brilliant IMO. In all its sadnesss, it is honest and well crafted. interesting melodies(vocal phrasing esp.) combined with genuine feelings. I enjoy it happy or sad, and for each it is different in its own stimulating way. It actually touches on a range of emotions..I find Bluebeard as joyous as any song they've done(I've mentioned before that I find track 3 on the last 4 LP's to be very uplifting..). But so is Squeeze Wax and Summerhead. Essense and My Truth are soothing to me ina very pleasant way. Guitar in Theft echoes in infinity...can't say enough good things about this album.

About THIS poll, I rather think Rob was poking fun(quite rightly to) at my silly FCC poll which I rather botched, though I still found the results interest.

I was thinking, when two CT fans agree on something, it is the closest thing to a cocteau majority...the most agreed on thing to date I've seen is that LET is the best EP...hehe.

Darn, we can't even squabble that well, here's mine:

1. Alice
2. Serpentskirt
3. Fotzepolitic
4. Squeeze-wax
5. Fifty fifty clown
6. Heaven or Las Vegas
7. Ups
8. Road river and rail
9. Pur
10. Seekers who are lovers

Disqualified for Alice? Substitute Treasure Hiding. Second thoughts, Treasure Hiding is very similar to Pur in the closing phase, substitute Know who you are….

CRIMINY!

THE POLL WAS INTENDED TO BE HUMOROUS!

like I said on the which tracks would you Jettison on HOLV-thread, I find the process of playing 'producer' a yucky past-time... & I only mentioned HOH because I always felt it uneven, a work-in-progress w/some glaring earsores on it.... for me, its not an album I yearn to hear anymore.

that said, I would ask if you did remove those songs you loathe from history and went back in time and heard that album for the first time......???

or, put another way

ever notice how those best-of-the-best compilations tend to be the ones that put everyone at the party to sleep?

I SAY A BAD AND/OR SILLY SONG CAREFULLY PLACED MAKES THE SURROUNDING SONGS BETTER

try following sheena eastons 'sugar walls' w/loves easy tears sometime...roflmao roflmao

to tell the truth, Mmmender (SOOOOOO GLAD YR BACK!!!), I heard sooo much negative/mixed press on this and CT.com about M&K that I simply never bothered to check it out... 4CC seemed like the final album to me, and after reading band interviews about its conception I just assumed M&K was a half-hearted attempt to continue when all had already been said better:o

I'd say Garlands. Mainly because it's so different then the others, before they really developed their style.

As for FCC...I love every song. I think it is a perfect album. I love most of M&K (I really prefer the Twinlights version of Rilkean Heart much more) .

Head Over Heals is my second least liked album.
