View Full Version : Best LP Closing Track?

The ctblue seemed to have a tradition of closing their LP's with epic, dramatic, sweeping tracks, such as "Frou-Frou Foxes In Midsummer Fires", "Seekers Who Are Lovers", and "Musette And Drums". Which do you enjoy most?

So right you are! And because of that I typically just start the whole CD over again. I wonder if they planned the last song on the CD to be so epic?

The thinner the air.

Not my favorite song by them, BUT it always leaves me with that vague yearning sensation you get when you finish a great book and wish there was just...one...more...chapter...

As Pur is just about the highest level they ever achieved I plead 'no contest' m'Lud.

......ella megalast burls forever! just the perfect finish for an album that BEGINS with blue bell knoll.:D :D

not a doubt in my mind, a nearly perfect cocteau twins song.

sweet, sad, slow, hard, joyous, crystaline. a small storm in autumn, captured in a bottle.....it is the perfect counter part to BBK. .....imho......of course.;)

Hey, where's the choice for Ooze Out and Away, Onehow ?

Just love the way it does the classic CT build-up, beautiful burst of energy, then dissipates . . . kinda like sex, eh? ;)

The one that immediately leapt to mind when I read the question was "Seekers." What an apropos final cut for the CT! And it's preceded by a great penultimate track: "Treasure Hiding." --Alan

For me, Donimoballerina

When i first saw ctblue live, this song sent me into rapture.
To see liz in her theatrical long white dress, gently leaning forward to sing, then clapping her palms together with her head to the side gazing downward. Beautiful. When i listen to Treasure, i will always have this image in my mind.

Funny, i was talking to a friend about this only the other day!!

For me, Donimo. The best out of a very strong shortlist.

"Musette And Drums" was my choice. Just very powerful, anthemic, intense!!!

Great poll!!!

1) frou-frou
2) ella
3) musette
4) donimo
5) thinner
6) seekers
7) pur
8) garlands

Yeah, "Grail Overfloweth" is kind of the exception to the rule, in that it's not this huge, sweeping, anthemic closer.

I love ALL of them - they certainly knew how to give their albums a powerful climax (and no doubt their listeners too, fnarr fnarr ;)) but Ella, Frou Frou and Seekers are just that extra bit divine. Can't single out one from those three.

It's Ella for me - not just for the vocal but for that drum pattern that just keeps rolling back atchya.

Here here!

And none of that "it's not really a CT album" crap, either. I always think of it as CT plus guest pianist anyway...

Hmmmm? I seemed so certain about that? Now I'm not so sure? Domino is real great, but so is Musette and Drums.....Hell so is Ella.....

With just about anyone would be fine at the moment....

Musette and Drums is a strong contender, but I also have a soft spot for "Seekers...".

I'm just up the road on Toon Quayside. In the house by myself. Just waiting.

Close call between Donimo and Frou Frou. But I voted Donimo cause Treasure is my favourite album.

I can't decide on a best closer - but I don't think any of them work as effectively as 'it's not you, it's me and my infection'
