One of the least talked about (and why is that?) Cocteau EP's and I think it's brilliant. What's your fave song from this EP?

I'm so used to considering this EP as part of Treasure, because the Canadian edition of Treasure included the EP.......so I always heard the songs as part of the album.

this is, i think, the first CT record i ever owned. i love ever song on here. "Aikea-Guinea" is a personal, long-term fave. "Roccoco" is also one i have enjoyed a lot lately. but there are no weak tracks here...

Kookaburra. Her voice is just so damn crispy, and the piano warms up the whole thing immensely.

The audio on Aikea-Guinea always seemed messy to me. I know, Im gonna burn in hell for saying that...

I'm not picking just one. This happens to be my favourite EP's of the bands. Every track is a killer.

I love all the tracks, no exception. Though I voted Aikea Gunea as because I find this track belonging to this season. I loved Rococo since the first listening.

It's between Quisquose and Rococo depending on mood...definitely the best EP in my book!

Aikea-Guinea is one of CT's signature songs, it really defines what the band's sound was all about.

Definitely one of the top five songs they ever did. The other three songs are very solid, but not among my favorites from their catalog.

Kookaburra! Love the drum beat, singing...well all of it.
Aikea Guinea is a tight second though.

Yeah the remaster is nice, I didn't consider that for this poll..just the songs in general. I will say the title track does edge out the others just a bit for me.

I like the L2V version better also, it's softer. The engineering on that track just freaks me out in general. Enough reverb to choke a horse. But I do like that you can hear Liz coming into her own.. to me it's the first track where she really establishes her style.

Yeah, I agree. I think there is only so much they could do with it in the remaster. I think the reverb used on the vocal track originally didn't sound very good, I really don't mind dated effects in general, but some I think are more detrimental to the final mix than others. It is what it is and it won't happen again. So that aside, I love it.

Definitely their best EP, not a stinker in the bunch. I love them all but if I was pushed I would have Aikea-Guinea slightly ahead of Quisquose and the last two being equal in third.

aikea-guinea, one of my top three ct tracks.

i remember being completely blown away the first time i heard this, which, as a matter of fact, happened to be the same time i first saw the video as well, on the tube on channel 4 in the mid 80s... aw

Quisquose feels like it does something to me physically when the chorus comes in. Sort of seems like it floats me up into the air by my ankles.

Aikea Guinea was one of the few 'old' tracks the band still owned up to liking wasn't it? I would check the box marked I Love All Equally. Perfectly sequenced EP, sounds akin to being caught in high surf, love it.

Close call between the title track and Kookaburra. Quiquose is sort of okay and Rococo still sounds kinda uneventful and monotonous to me, though I've learned to appreciate it more after hearing some of you peeps raving about it.
I chose Aikea-Guinea in the end because it holds a particular memory for me - i was walking home from work on what had been a rainy day when suddenly, as Liz voice went up in the chorus bit, this watery yellow sun broke through the clouds. The ambience fitted the music perfectly. Weird how relatively unimportant stuff like that gets linked to the music you were listening to at the time.
Also, there is more vocal harmony going on then in Kookaburra.

Kookaburra.. its like being incinerated by a tidal wave of feathers...

Aikea-Guinea reminds me more of big pink cows bouncing around in slo-mo.

Another Rococo fan here; it is one of my fave CT instrumental tracks. I love how punky and thrashy the guitars are with that throbbing bass riff. Visceral stuff

Quis is great but Aikea is my all time fav, the start is just amazing the way it just builds up to that crescendo of noise with Liz's voice at its almost operatic best.
