Hi, does anyone know what this image is called. Just because it was used on the "Lullabies" EP doesn't necessarily mean the image had the same title.

I always thought it was a design by Vaughn Oliver / 23 Envelope.
Don't know if it has a name.

The sleeve was designed by them but the actual central image used in the sleeve design had to come from somewhere or did they create the image too ?
which was drawn by michael zulli that's what I know..

I've always thought of her as a "one-legged loony doing a one-hand handstand" but I've got a sneaky suspicion that's not the real name :hstand:roflmao
Anyway back on track, anyone have a name for the original image ?

I'll try and find out for you........but give me some time.
FYI I do know the name of the image on the Spangle Maker EP, if that matters to you.
Oh, and btw the green icon you posted is ALSO the Zulli (CocteauFest) version and not the original...........

Yes I wouldn't mind knowing the name of the Spangle Maker image, please. And yes I did know the icon was your version, the trailing petal/cloth is a lot longer ;)
The Spangle Maker image is "the Crystal Gazer," a 1910 photograph by Gertrude Käsebier. I just met a curator at the Smithsonian Institute who wrote a book about Käsebier's photographs of the American Indians. (As I was there to donate some of my photos to their archives, I didn't want to get chatty about my favorite music group's use of one of her images. . . )
It does make one wonder if the Calla-Lilly-Handstand-Girl (my title for her) was lifted from someone else??? Respecting copyrights indeed. (Of course, the Kasebier image may have been public domain by then??)

I don't know about the title but I've always believed it was Isadora Duncan dancing.

I don't know about the title but I've always believed it was Isadora Duncan dancing.
I looked for more details relating her to the image but couldn't find anything concrete.
I did find this picture of her........then I tried to imagine it upside down!

The center piece on the table at the "Wood Home" where I've been enjoying a jacuzzi the last several is a large crystal three tier vase with four calla lilies in it a visual symbol of such dancers :)

I wonder if we will ever know where the image came from. The designer must have gotten it from somewhere -- but will he ever say?
I wonder if it was just a found photograph by an unknown photographer of a forgotten woman?

There's a documentary about the barefoot dancer Isadora Duncan with a short clip where she does this dance standing on her hands. I saw it maybe 20 years ago, but I'm pretty sure it's her or possibly one of her daughters.
