View Full Version : Instrumental Cocteaus
everytime when I listen to the instrumental works of CT, I notice what Liz did for them. She always melodizes the songs based on Robin and Simon.

I think it's so odd listening to a track like "Oomingmak" where there's both a vocal and instrumental version of the song. No matter how many times I hear the instrumental version I'm still convinced somehow that I can still faintly hear her vocals! I think it's just because the song doesn't sound the same at all without her singing. It just sounds so different.
I will admit that she had a wonderful ability to use such a great range of notes to sing when she did (the majority of) vocals. I think one needs to have a great musical sense to do this. It's evident to me, even though I consider myself quite a 'musical' person.....that she does hold a very special talent within her. Sometimes she goes places with her voice that you never expect her to go. Yet, somehow, she seems to make it all flow together beautifully.
Now, if she would just release a damn solo album and quit stalling!

i once read an interview where robin says that liz would take the vocals in directions he never would have thought to go in relation to the music he and simon would create.
