it really is one of the most gorgeous songs I've ever heard in my life...
I love the very classical sensibility of the arrangement. I could probably listen to a whole album of songs in this vein, actually.

I'd really like it, but Liz does that really horrible, low, Nina Simone-esuqe vibrato thing all over it.

Agree that Watchy. Would have been a great album opener.
I love this name. Alice... Alicia...

i love it apart from the fact there is too much going on in that song too much layering but i love it when Liz sings low!!

Only the people here in the UK will get that, but I salute you for your grasp of the British novelty-record scene.
Now shaddap-a you face.

what....too much layering?
bah! never!
in my ultimate CT-land, there's no such thing.
my motto:
hey, throw another layer on there, please!
ah, the thrill of it....

yet another fan of "Alice" and multi-tracked vocals.

I like Alice, but is so sad and slow to listen to at times, so rarely play it.

I really think it was the best thing to come out of the M&K era sessions!

alice is quite a powerful track, to be sure.
all the vocal layering is intelligent and beautifully performed.. the piano is wonderfully atmospheric.. and i love the way the guitar just sort of shimmers away behind it all.
it's just a very nicely constructed and executed song.
but i think the tishbite/violaine EP sets contain many good songs!
