In this previous forum poll (http://www.cocteautwinsforums.com/showthread.php5?t=12372) people were asked to vote for their favourite "Treasure" track. The results show most people like either "Lorelei" or "Donimo" - so, let's put those two great "Treasure" classics head-to-head and see which one wins!
Lorelei has a more killer bassline, more genuis guitar and vocals thrice as magical.

Of the two, I prefer Lorelei but Persephone always gets my vote for the best album track with PeepBo getting an honorary mention ;)
Donimo, no contest. I mean I like Lorelei and all, but Donimo is a friggin' MONUMENT!

can't choose, never liked either very much.
Lorelei's a more coherent piece of music, imo, though. Donimo has that long keyboard drone that goes nowhere for about a third of the track.

I don't like Donimo at all, so it's Lorelei.

I really love them both to pieces. I voted Lorelei though because I've been able to dance to it a few times at da club.

Having actually taken time out to listen to just those 2 tracks I still can't anwser the question. For most artists I listen to the individual tracks on a album so can chose. There are a limited number of artists/albums (CT & Pink Floyd albums, The Who's Quadrophenia & Kate Bush's A Sky of Honey come to mind) that I have to listen to as complete works. Listening to just one track off the album just doesn't feel right.

Donimo is a masterpiece.
Yes, it really is. That long drone intro is really a great tension builder, and when the beats finally kick in, it's like a slow motion fireworks show.

or like reindeer on the roof till the ceiling gives way and you get crushed to death in your bed
but seriously, it pales in comparison to 'Ooze out and away, Oneway' imo
I admit Donimo is one of the great CT music, but I select Lorelei cuz I can't get rid off it. I fall in love on Treasure, partly because of Lorelei. Ledang ledang ledang~~~~~

a tough one...lorelei was the first ct track that i fell in love with, but donimo has that droney bit and makes me feel like i'm being swung 'round by my feet...
i'm goin' with donimo...

The intro is a bit longish, but it's interspersed with some of Liz' best vocal bits so I dont mind the length. The lyrics are your usual gibberish (oka-poka-donimo-ka) but the voice is (dare i say it) angelic. When the instruments kick in it's like a release and there is more angelic gibberish vocal-wise that you can sing along to really loudly (heena-heena-hey-lanaka-naka) so anyone who can hear you will think you're a bit strange.
That's it. I'm gonna play it right now.

It's that "honkey donkey dominonkey" stuff that turns me off Donimo.
Love them both, as I do the whole album, but there is a reason that I always put Donimo as the last song when I make a CD for a potential CT recruit. To me it fits so many elements of what is so wonderful about the band all in one song and at the end it always makes me want to hear more. I have heard this comment ,as well, from people I have made CD's for.

There are just a handful of CT tracks everyone loves that I just don't like. I'm silly like that.

Donimo....It reminds me of winter in Florida which was a great time of year to be down there, if I was to ever go back it would have to be during the winter months. Strangely the song also reminds me of being on my own completely for the first time in my life so I have a strong attachment to the song for that reason.

Lorelei
Although Donimo is a great tune, and a near-perfect ending to the album, I prefer Lorelei.

I love Donimo, but you put it up against perhaps my favourite CT song. When in college, Lorelei was granted the same silent, meditative respect that we gave to Song to the Siren (sorta like a national anthem).
So...Lorelei - without a doubt a doubt a doubt.........
Oh, Donimo! Like a huge sea of eternal tranquility - even the loud bits! But I vote for Lorelei cos you can dance to it!

Yes, it's almost like babytalk. But I don't really mind. With a voice like that you can sing pretty much anything and I'll dig it. It's funny because that's what my wife says about Lorelei: she sounds like a little girl talking babytalk. She's right but I never thought of it that way until she said so.
