Well, a couple of days ago i found out (not in this forum i'm afraid :2cry:)that Mr Guthrie will come to Argentina in about ten days!
I'll happen to be in Buenos Aires on vacation, visiting friends, by that time, so obviously i'm going to see the man play. He'll be presenting Lumière, and since i'm not the biggest fan of his solo work, i wanted your opinion on this show, how good is it? I'll go to the show anyway just because who he is, but i wanted you to tell me what should i expect.

Si puedes bajar temas del internet te recomiendo: Imperial, Elemental, music for labour, continental, pale, monument, everlasting, sigh across the ocean, Snowfall, halloween, darkness of the heart y sus ultimos dos discos con Harold Budd.
Saludos,
Carlos.

ps. Ahi te mande un request a tu myspace. Lo que escuche suena bien.

Well if I were you I'd go, but if you are expecting some sort of 80's nostalgia then maybe you should stay at home. After all, I'm not the biggest fan of disappointing people.

Robin,

You really should consider touring the States/Canada with your solo gigs.
I know you seem to have traveling nightmeres over here, but it wont be like Itay, what was up with that nonsense anyway?
I think you would do quite well here.
Think, Leesa will come down from Toronto, and bring her gang and
all us USA CT Forum Freaks!
Im sure she's told you all this before.
Just a suggestion...

Your solo shows are incredible! (Id kill to see you live)
Nice gigs with Resplendor also. Youtube keeps us up with your travels.

Good luck with the rest of the tour!

Go go go Gustav - it's a good show and what have you got to lose? (don't want to hype it up too much) I hope to see it in stereo sometime (bloody NFT).

Robin, i'm not at all interested in nostalgia of any kind ... i'm just not a big fan of instrumental music in general, that's all. Anyway, i already decided that i'll go to the show, i know i'm not gonna be disappointed.
And i hope you like Argentina; it'll be your second time here, right?

And thaks all of you people for your kind replies!

I've seen it twice and had a great time. I'll get my picture taken with Robin next time to up his quota of females under 40 having their picture taken with him. :)

Go see Lumière. Robin's blissful guitar work and his perfectly matched visuals are simply gorgeous

I didn't ask for a photo because I'm over 40!

Go Gustav, get a drink, find a seat, sit back and chill to the images and the wondrous sounds :)

Not a fan of his solo work!?!? Really?:slapfight:

Do me a favor and don't go. I'd kill to see Lumière again, and in Argentina no less? I'll stop now because the more I read your post the more it irritates me.

Is this a one man's show? Or are there other musicians?

Guthy does all the parts...guitar, drums, bass whilst on roller blades. Trent "why is that man so darned angry" Reznor was inspired by one of Guthy's shows.

Because he wasn't going to appreciate it. It's more tongue in cheek actually.

Well I saw him in Seattle with Harold Budd and I'm still riding that emotional wave of sight and sound. Truly a treat beyond measure for me.

Well, after a couple of weird days, i finally got to Buenos Aires this morning. In case any of you people didnt know, there are some major problems here in Argentina, almost every single road in the country is blocked, so it was very difficult to get to Buenos Aires. I was stuck in a very small town right in the middle of the Pampa region called Buchardo, where my girlfriend Ana was born, and we just were'nt able to leave the town.

Thank god last night we inally took a bus that brought us here to Bs As, after a very long 12 hour trip (a trip that usually takes no longer than 8 hours).

Tonight i'm going to see the show, i know i'll enjoy it.

At risk of sounding like the average american (del Norte) billissfully unaware if haps outside of our borders, what's going on in Argentina of late? I sorta knew about the fragile economy and the usual "help" from the World Bank...but things sound considerable worse.

I believe there's a big farmers strike regarding large taxation increases on exports.

I saw the show in BsAs, close up, it was wonderful. The crowd responded very well and asked for encores but I figure since it's an audiovisual show, he doesn't have any encores planned.
I noticed that Robin seems to loop some guitar parts live, he plays the layer of guitar for a bit, loops it, and then continues to play something else on top. The live sound is very impressive.
As to the problems in Argentina, it all has to do with greed. The economy is booming actually, problem is that this gov't instead of subsidizing farmers like most countries do, insists on putting an export tax on them. It was 35% and now they want to raise it to 44%, which caused the whole farmers strike. It's now over fortunately.

Feel free to come to Brazil, Robin. Pretty please? :2cry:
