This is probably Olde News, but here is Robin's contribution to the NME's Rebellious Jukebox column, where artists were invited to list their favourite records at the time. It may cause some blushes but I think most of them stand up very well (with one massive exception!). So cut a rug, everybody!

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds: "The Mercy Seat"
Donna Summer: "State Of Independence"
The Pop Group: "She Is Beyond Good And Evil"
The Birthday Party: "The Friend Catcher"
The The: "Lonely Planet"
Suicide: "Ghost Rider"
Rage Against The Machine: "Killing In The Name"
Patsy Cline: "Sweet Dreams"
The Ronettes: "Be My Baby"
Roy Orbison: "In Dreams"
Radiohead: "Creep"
John Lennon: "Woman"

My cave faves include........

"From Her To Eternity" (Love the whole album! but Saint Huck stands out)
"Red Right Hand" (Jangling Jack, Red Right Hand)
"Tender Prey" (Mercy Seat)

Must say, not really a fan of "The Good Son"

Always loved his bit on "Until the end..." soundtrack.....amazing.

The two tracks from "Wings of Desire" (can't remember the titles) are great!
They were my first intro to Nick.
Don't know "The Birthday Party" too well, will check them out.
Thanks!

My dog ate a signed copy of King Ink three Christmases ago. I can only type these words now.

I have that cd! I bought it when i was 17, i played it so many times i think it got thiner. My favorites are probably "Jennifer's veil" and "Mr Clarinet".

From Robin's list i especially like "Ghost rider" and "Be my baby"; and i don't see anyhing wrong with the Lennon song, i think it's a beautiful track.

I kept thinking last night: "Woman????!!!" if someone who apparently likes so many records I like, then if he likes a record I despise then it's clearly my problem - so maybe it's the sound of 'Woman', that slightly adrift guitar-playing, that's cool, rather than the mawkish needy lyrics. Leastways, I totally have it on the brain this morning!

I have a great dislike for Woman as well, maybe because it was so overplayed on the radio.

I can't bear that track. I don't like "Imagine", either.

No Dprid it was basically rubbish ... like most of the tracks I've heard from Double Fantisy .. because Lennon got shot we're all supposed to say it was a return to form ... IMHO it wasn't.

I can't bear that track. I don't like "Imagine", either.

Agree on Woman ... but still have a soft spot for Imagine ... even if the words rather hypocritical for a multi-millionaire

As long as I never have to hear the song "Let It Be" because it makes me ill.

(nosy mode) Any reason for this Leesa ? (/nosy mode)

p.s. The song is actually about Macca's late mother (guess what her name was), who used to say the phrase, rather than any biblical lady
