There is mention of a new Robin Guthrie album being ready at the end of Spring. Does anyone have any details? The news is from Darla records.

Yes, it would appear that one-time shoegaze legend Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins is looking to go retro with his next new work.
Guthrie told us "I was aboot to do a record featuring some bagpipe tunes from the Grangemouth area but I got distracted by a song called "Blockbuster" by The Sweet and it brought the magic of the 70s back to me. So, I'm going to be ditching the cool, languid approach and glamming up my music a bit".
Cocteauphile Leesa Beales was heard to say "I think this is a brave step and I hope he's going to be careful if he's thinking of wearing those platform heels".
When we told former Cocteau Twin Simon Raymonde, he collapsed with laughter and would offer no comment.
Former Cocteau Twin Liz Fraser could not be contacted.

First "Goldfrapp", now "Guthrie".
I Say a Oh la la la la!
TOO GOOD!
Maybe Alison & Will can remix the first single?

The page has changed, David - I saw it yesterday.
Robin said something in one of his blogs a while ago about pulling together material for a new solo release, so I believe it.

I grew up with glam rock, so I'm interested already.

Cool :)
In a last minute change of plan Robin Guthrie has decided to ditch Glam Rock for K-Pop -too right

So are CT re-forming with Noddy Holder on vocals ?
"C'mon Feel the Sugar Hiccup", anyone?
I'm really not buying this. I bought his last release only to find 1 good song on it. I'll stick to CT.

While I hate to kiss ass......you've gotta be kidding me? Have you at least tried to listen to the "Mysterious Skin" soundtrack that Robin did with Harold Budd? It's really good!

You should try Imperial, it's amazing. Or just give the record you have a spin every now and then. You might warm up to it. His records reward repeated listening.

I agree "Mysterious Skin" is an amazing piece of work, Imperial is mind blowing, and if that doesn't float your boat go find the post on the forums and download Lumiere live in Paris 2005...
I've seen him do Lumiere twice and both times I've been floored.

Woa! I just don't like it. I've only owned "Continental" and just didn't like it. I thought it was boring. I don't own the "Mysterious Skin" soundtrack, but I may get it eventually. I didn't like TMATM, either. I really don't like a lot of ambient music. No offense...
The fact that I love Robin Guthrie's work, "Mysterious Skin" is outstanding and by far a classic. There are some stuff that he has done sounds a bit New Age. I was hoping when he collaborated with Harold Budd again that they would focus on sounds like "TMATM" but instead it sounded more New Age then Ambient. I wish that Robin Guthrie, Harold Budd and Brian Eno did a collaboration.

I swear, I've never seen anyone have more trouble at airports than he has. I've flown plenty of times with no problem. I wonder what the deal is?
