Here's a link to more info on Simple Minds' 'The Cocteau Twins'

Also, just remembered - one of the first (and probably few) airings of CT music on primetime TV was in 1984 - on UK ITV's Football Saturday lunch-time programme, there was a feature on Scottish international and music officianado Pat Nevin. He was shown playing Treasure (I think Ivo) and there was another Treasure track used in the feature. The studio presenters were not complementary about the tracks I seem to remember ...

Does this count as an interesting tidbit?

carolyn (from the song caroyln's fingers) is just a randomly choosen name?

Robin said that fingers on Blue Bell Knoll belongs to Carolyn, who was a friend of his, and had photo session with juergen teller. Robin was pissed, because he had to pay for pictures of fingers. They shot it all day long. But maybe he made it up.

At first I thought it was "EYE - vo" ( After the 4AD dude Ivo Watts) but it sounds like Liz is singing "EE-vo" in the song.

Though some people seem to think she's sing "peep-bo"

I always assumed it was EEvo aswell. But it's probably because of the Dutch pronounciation (Ivo is a common name around here, pronounced as such).

About the Simple Minds thing-- I have it from Robin himself that it was a song called "The Cocteau Twins" that became the song "No Cure" which is on SM's debut album Life In A Day. So, it's almost correct in mmmender's list.

What about the Sky To Speak and Void Of Voice things? Were they just names made up for those two bootlegs?

I was under the impression that this one was already 'outed'.

Yes, "mizake the mizan" is in fact, 'carny speak' for "make the man". In 1920's America, this would have been understood as a slang phrase meaning "doing a drug deal". This slang is of the same vintage as "cherry colored funk", meaning specifically "black smoke", and "fifty-fifty clown", meaning "part-time policeman".

Aren't these (and more) on a CT-related website? I read these somewhere!

Its wierd in the uk cos if a child is born before the parents are married the child only adopts the fathers name after the marriage is complete.Stranger still as my aunt was still pregnant during her wedding my uncle had to sign adoption papers for his own kid, even though it was his.So in effect my cousin was born with her mums maiden name until the adoption was complete.
