Customer: I'd like a deodorant please

Salesperson: Roll on ball or aerosol?

Customer: Oh, just for under the armpits please

Now that you mention it, that pic does look as if Robin is checking the longevity of his deodorant.

why do promoters insist on the "ex-Cocteau Twins" tag-line?? especially on a poster which includes Robin's picture??!!

I can understand why he gets peeved over it from time to time .... judge on the present not the past?

that said - I wish I was able to be there .... perhaps he'll play more shows in UK this year??

I love the image: RG playing onstage, dozens of little boys in dusty baseball uniforms sitting cross-legged on the floor.

That was my firsy thought when I saw the poster, and I know it pisses RG off a bit, but no matter how good your current work is why is it so wrong to refer back to previous work - good art is good art from whatever period. Do you think Paul McCartney hates being known as an ex Beatle? Do you think Van Gogh at the end of his life hated people going on about his early work?

I think there's also an indefinable ferocity of work someone does in their 20s. It's that the work is searching for itself so that makes it even more powerful, imo.

Had a nice chat over the weekend w/Guthers & the Mrs. The best part was when RG, sipping on a mojito, compared CT with WWII, and I'm screaming "That's art", "Bring on WWWIII"! Well, maybe not screaming, but I sure felt like it. I also told them I couldn’t deal with being lost in space and about still needing a guide, preferably one who‘s cuckoo for cocoa puffs. They were really cool about it all and comforted me like parents would a child.

Poster should say something like "Inventor of Shoegaze".
