someone submitted these lyrics to me......what do you think?

"take me with you" (michael kamen, feat. liz fraser)

your eyes are still closed
are you sleeping?
can i touch you
would it make you fall?
they say that love is in the sky
and if the clouds slip in between us
i want to live in your dreams
take me with you

the night is still cold
let me hold you
drifting homewards
do you know where the wind blows?

i have no idea. not sure i've ever heard the song actually.
but that's mainly cos i'd heard that it (along with the film) is crap... :dunno:

Funnily enough, I thought this was a twee sub-Kate Bush C side of a song when I first heard it, and now it gets me really quite emotional - even if the piano intro is a tad overlong and the vocal is just a bit on the coy and overly girlie side. (Compare Liz's joyous and crisply grounded enunciation on Gabriel's 'Downside Up', for example, if you want an altogether more grown up and womanly barometer of her musical (and doubtles psychological) maturation. By contrast, 'Take Me' is very much first love stuff.)

Oh, and these lyrics look like a pretty good stab.

PS I've just remembered that the Winter Guest song reminds me of my ex-fiancee the way she sings it - it's some kind of feminine/vocal archetype that just squeezes my heart.

It IS definitely different, ian. But I would not say that it's crap, although I couldn't tell you about the film. I have the MP3, or if mmmender has it, maybe it can be posted?

i love that track...i know a lot of CT fans don't like Liz's other projects but that track is gorgeous...

I would love for Liz to do a complete album of lullabies....that would be a dream!!!!!!!!!!

As long as she doesn't include 'Winter Wonderland'!

I always think of 'Victorialand' as lullabye-esque in places, and there are lots of other milk and kissy moments in the Cocteaus' reperoire post-Lucy Belle.

I guess you've got a special collection of bona fide ballads in mind.

I seem to recall a "Take Me with You" lyrics thread on the Liz Fraser Yahoo group a few weeks ago. Anyone else here subscribe to that group? I didn't follow the disc. much since I'm not too big on lyrical transcription/interpretation, etc. Not really one of my fave post-CT Liz songs either.

Whoa! One of the new Guthrie Imperial tracks just snuck up on me! "Music for Labour"! Anyone else noticed a very CT-like quality about this track?!

Didn't he do the music for Event Horizon? (Apart from Prodigy - Funky Shit at the end)

i always thought the hookline was "we're sailing off into the sky" rather than "they say that love is in the sky". better i reckon!

Michael Kamen has worked with Kate Bush a fair bit too. my other obsession....
