View Full Version : So THAT'S where everyone is........

I see....RG starts a forum and suddenly everyone here jumps ship.
A shameful piece of behaviour and one which I'd deal with by meting out punishment with a birch rod, if not for the fact that most of the "jumpers" would enjoy it.
Come on, people - get posting. You know you want to.

Remember, Leesa: to each his own, no matter how tactless. There are plenty here who continue to enjoy your fora.

I meant no ill will. It was merely meant as a continuation of the minor barb from the first post but I can see now how it could be taken seriously from a mysterious writer of a mere 10 posts.
Truly, I have quite enjoyed this forum for months even if it's not readily apparent.

point taken and no harm done.....although i'm still a tad perplexed by your choice of words to call this forum a "sinking ship"
frankly i could care less today.
if people like it here they'll stay, if they don't then they'll leave.
Well I got it - jumping ship in the first post, sinking ship in the later one - quite a subtle point made I thought that he/she was disagreeing with the sentiments expressed earlier. These boards always seem quieter at weekends though - must be a lot of people posting on company time :)
Anyway, I had a look at the Bella Union boards and to be quite frank I think if I started on another board I could easily be looking at serious wife-inflicted injuries. I guess I'll pop in to read about releases & stuff, but at the moment I doubt I'll post.

dprid, you got it!
I'm pretty used to it now, that whenever I post on forums I end up being perplexing and ambiguous so that I think I'll never post again. Yet I still end up posting, maybe just to see how others react :) There, a smiley to show that I'm friendly!

i really haven't had time to check it out.
....so does Robin Guthroe get way chatty at BU?
....is Simon even more friendly and engaging in those parts?
....does Liz drop by for quick tea and hello every other Wednesday?
please tell me there's something worthwhile going on over there in BU-land, because (with a twisted stern and sober look) i somehow seriously doubt they're discussing the merits of the best BU release ever titled Sneakster.
more likely, some kind of dutiful Czarmania chatter.

I haven't noticed a plethora of posts by either Robin or Simon on the BU Forum. In fact, a quick check reveals a total of 6 and 8 posts respectively. Don't see Liz listed in the "members" list--not under E, L, or F anyway ;-) No big surprise there....
But the BU Forum is still young. I'm sure it will pick up steam as time goes on.
Simon just posted this humorous msg about a proposed "texan european revue":

Aye he was kind enough to respond to my Explosions In The Sky query as well... bless his heart.
You guys have to check out Explosions In The Sky, they are the real deal. Can't wait for that one to come out on BU!

BTW, how's the El Nino remix comin' along? ;-)

np: CT - Pitch the Baby (multiphonic mix)
Bella Emberg's all very nice and stuff but I'm happy to stay here, curled up with a slice of battenburg and a game of darts.
Or as Phil would probably say, a mug of milky tea and a cream horn.

Although I still refuse to use the smiley icons, I must look for some sort of flag to indicate when my posts are tongue-in-cheek.
Did the rest of it (re birch rods) not give the game away?

Hehehe Slow... very very slow atm... but i think i have the background music laid down finally.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to extract a good sound loop from any led zepplin song.
so soon very soon. :D

It was at half-mast first thing this morning and has since been ritually folded, rolled and stored in its usual place (with the regimental goat mascot).

Better now? Or is the planned career as a Jim Carrey impersonator still on hold?

hey : the BU forum serves a different purpose to this one. Some of you may find it hard to believe but many people who like artists on BU may not be really into the Cocteau Twins. I mean, I can't imagine Jetscreamer or Laura Veirs fans congregating in the Cocteau Twins forum...Therefore the BU forum is a place where they can exchange their thoughts and ideas without having to continually use the Cocteau Twins as a reference. Of course there will be a crossover as many people who like Cocteau Twins also like some of the BU stuff..
me : I like it here, I'll stick around a bit..

Well Dr Guthers, of the BU stuff I hope VI are likeable as I've just ordered lots of stuff from you lot. That should keep you in Gitanes for a couple of hours.

Calm, lad.
My original post was intended to be a gentle nudge to the members of this forum to post something. If I'd used the winking, "I'm-being-a-scallywag" icon, it'd have been understood by everyone for what is was from the outset.

dear fred of la....ah dear dear boy...
i think in just one full week of the forum at BU there is.....mm let me see....not ONE post about the Czars. sorry to disappoint.
no i don't think there is a sneakster one either but then the forum will be mostly used to discuss bands that have been on Bella Union this century. but you are more than welcome to post a thread about sneakster if that is all you know about!! :)
i am guessing you might like Trespassers William (coming out later), the Faraway Places (coming out August), a) cos both these bands are from LA!! and b) cos they do not have slide guitars all over them. very surprised you didn't like the Stars At Saint Andrea by DEVICS, its warm electronics i would have thought to be right up yr alley!

No, Sib, I don't know, but I plan to learn in the near future :)
So which Zep tune are you using?! Perhaps something from Houses of the Holy? Is this one gonna have a CT instrumental (maybe oomingmak?) or are you gonna use something from Imperial again?
And don't forget about the "First Four Black Sabbath albums!" You just *hafta* put in a snippet from Paranoid--that would be sooo cool!

i will keep an eye out for TW and FP playing locally.
i tried recently to hear the new Devics album at a local listening station in a store here in Echo Park.
unfortunately, the din of other in-store play made the experience less than acceptable.......so i'll have to try again another day.
