I don't know if this has ever been posted, and if it has then I apologise!! If not, then I ask, What are your Top-20 favorite Cocteau Twins songs ever? It doesn't have to be an entire Top-20; it could just be 20 favorite songs of theirs that you love. Doesn't matter which version either. And feel free to note an honorable mention or two.

Here's mine [at the moment--because, after the first 10, tends to usually change at any time]--

1|Beatrix
2|Peppermint Pig [12"]
3|Evangeline
4|Violaine [BBC Session]
5|The Tinderbox [of a Heart]
6|Know Who You Are At Every Age

As I've mentioned before I cant name that many CT tunes .... I liten to albums as complete works & as I think of Liz's voice as an insturment don't really know what a track is called ... :sorry:

Well if you stopped reading the ale bottle labels long enough to pick up the album and read the song titles........:D

I am with you Red, until I joined this forum I only knew a handful of the obvious ones; Pearly Dew Drops, Ivo, etc. Now after being here for 3.5 years I can name about 6-8 when I hear them, and I've been listening since 1984, how sad is that.

:)

No, it won't come to that.

We don't want to lose more good people from our ranks.

Ok, I can name a couple more but I never really paid attention to what the name of the song playing was, I just listened to the album and admired 23 Envelopes artwork. I also loved the names of the songs because I am such fan of e.e. cummings and they always reminded me of lyric poetry. I just never connected the names to the songs I was listening to and therefore never remembered which belonged to which. I hope that made some sense.

I've been saying the same for years, and nobody has ever expelled me :)
Most of the song titles are meaningless in the scheme of things - I just listen to the music.

:offtopic: I know, but I looked this up, and it made me smile:

anyone lived in a pretty how town by E. E. Cummings

anyone lived in a pretty how town
(with up so floating many bells down)
spring summer autumn winter
he sang his didn't he danced his did

Women and men(both little and small)
cared for anyone not at all
they sowed their isn't they reaped their same
sun moon stars rain

children guessed(but only a few
and down they forgot as up they grew
autumn winter spring summer)
that noone loved him more by more

when by now and tree by leaf
she laughed his joy she cried his grief
bird by snow and stir by still
anyone's any was all to her

someones married their everyones
laughed their cryings and did their dance
(sleep wake hope and then)they
said their nevers they slept their dream

stars rain sun moon
(and only the snow can begin to explain
how children are apt to forget to remember
with up so floating many bells down)

one day anyone died i guess
(and noone stooped to kiss his face)
busy folk buried them side by side
little by little and was by was

all by all and deep by deep
and more by more they dream their sleep
noone and anyone earth by april
wish by spirit and if by yes.

Women and men(both dong and ding)
summer autumn winter spring
reaped their sowing and went their came
sun moon stars rain

It's impossible to give a top 20. In general their early works with Treasure at #1 soon followed by the Love's easy Tears ep.

gee Sireniya, back when I was a teen I used to pour over the albums and their practically nonexistant liner notes... the lack of information made them cool, CTs were mysterious, and each release had it's own special flavor.

Anyway, since I have a computer that I play music on and music share software from Lastfm, it's pretty easy to see what I actually play....

in order of frequency I actually play them...

Suckling the mender
For Phoebe still a baby
Oomingmak
Essence
Summerhead
Love's easy tears
Great spangled fritillary
High monkey monk
Pandora
Pitch the baby
The spangle maker
Kookaburra
Bluebeard
Pink Orange Red
Cico Buff
Millimilenary

...yeah yeah, I know "The Moon And The Melodies" is not 'Twins. But, CDDB has it under "Cocteau Twins and Harold Budd"; so, it showed up in my search.
