what ever became of dear dif juz? their mighty, dub-spined wall of soundmotion is sorely missed :(

richard thomas i think was drumming on the last wolfgang press tour back in 96 or so and jesus & mary chain way before that?

dj robin g, what was it like spliffin' with these guys anyways?

indeed difjuz are sorely missed by many. bassist gary bromley now lives in the US and has a new group called 'the children', as for drummer richard thomas, he has been working for a while with french producer bertrand burgalat in various projects, even releasing a few solo songs. brothers dave and alan curtis are, as far as I know, away from the music business.
in the past few months, there has been an enthusiasm from the public as well as bromley to re-issue two of their LP and cassette only non-4AD gems: 'time clock turn back' and 'who says so?', those projects are still in the works as it seems the curtis brothers seem to be a little difficult and aprehensive about this.
there is another legendary recording by dif juz; a live concert of them with dub master lee 'scratch' perry, the rights of which are owned by 4AD who promise this recordings will never see the light of day...too bad.

Damn
I'd love to hear that live dub album.

Oh well. I have the Time clock cassette and Who says so on vinyl so I guess I should be grateful.

Great band. Their only peers IMHO, Talk Talk and Bark Psychosis

I listened to all my difjuz CDs (including 'time clock...' and 'who says so?') this afternoon, and when they were over, I played piano magic's 'mort aux vaches', which, although in many ways different, proved to be a great companion to difjuz. think piano magic's latest album's (writers without homes) first track -(music won't save you from anything but)silence'- and you'll get an idea of what the 'mort...' ep sounds like...at many times, very similar guitarwork to that on 'who says so?'...

Wow, so fascinating to find out more about pre-4ad Dif Juz . . . what magnificent guitars, with those amazing dubby, jazzy overtones!

Was so happy to come across a couple old Dif Juz MP3s, i.e., "Pass It On Charlie" and a demo version of "Don't Worry" and really, really love it (RIP glorious Audiogalaxy) :)
