Anna Järvinen's upcoming album "Anna själv tredje" has been pulled due to the Cocteau Twins disapproving her Swedish-language cover of the song "Fotzepolitic", which she rechristened as "Hur man lättar helt enkelt". A new digital version of said album will be available on June 22 with the physical edition returning on July 4.

Interesting... Wonder why they've objected?
Hmmm, wouldn't surprise me at all if the decision never even reached the band members.

I wonder if it's just a matter of royalties not being paid up front to whoever owns the rights to the song (hell if I know who, it was always so confusing).
I doesn't sound like a totally reworked song, so shouldn't it be able to be considered a cover version?.....Remember what Devo did to The Rolling Stones "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" and it still retained the original title? "Der Kommissar", "99 Luftballoons" did quite well as cross translated remakes as I remember correctly......

well, yeah - isnt 'Cocteau Twins' at this point a legal entity/property of 4AD..? Is THAT who objected? Some nonperson in a suit?
Hard to imagine the members being miffed, at least, I just don't see it.

Agreed. I can't see the actual ex-band members giving much of a fuck about this.
This is almost certainly about 4AD and their copyright lawyers.
Whatever. It is a pretty nice cover version, anyway.

Just as clear as "Fotzepolitic!
fotzepolitic is pretty clear as a title- it means (swear word alert) 'cunt politics'

LOVE this!
I can't see this being a 4AD thing - it's her music (it's not like she sampled the Cocteaus) and her words. Sounds more like a publishing issue to me.
perhaps someone in Scandinavia decided they should get their own back for Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn"?? (joking!)
LOVE this though and would enjoy seeing it performed live ... one day perhaps ....
wierd use of samples of train announcements at the end though .... must mean something but I can't work out what exactly!

It's really a nice version - I'm glad it was some sort of business thing apparently and not a personal objection from the band. Fortunately I was able to get the CD before being recalled or whatever. I highly recommend everyone check out Anna Jarvinen's two other albums as well, they are both great. Being sung in Swedish, I think they could really appeal to non-Swedish speaking CT fans actually. Also, she was in a band called Granada that had three albums in the early 00's, with English lyrics, somewhat like the Cardigans but more melancholy, also highly recommended if you can find them.
Hi to the forums, I am a new member, kind of joined just to post about this, but have been a long time Cocteau Twins fan as well...

Until it disintegrates oddly at the end, it's pretty faithful to the spirit of the original, albeit sung by Harriet Wheeler from the Sundays.
But what do Cocteau Twins fans want from a cover of a Cocteaus song? An entirely faithful cover seems rather pointless because it'll never be the original. I suppose it's down to whether or not you like the artist who is doing the covering... It strikes me that a more radical attempt at reinterpretation has more of a point, although there is the danger of satisfying even fewer people.
