In 1984 Elizabeth, Simon and myself recorded a pilot for a TV show, a live performance of the song 'Pandora' in a studio in Brixton, London. It was filmed and edited and ready for transmission but the program never appeared and I'm thinking, there must be a videotape lingering in a storeroom somewhere with that performance. Any ideas? I can help you by telling you that I haven't the faintest idea what the program was called, who made it or anything about it, but I did have a rather nice black pudding sandwich from a local cafe for lunch that day, which, it has to be said, isn't really much help, but it did happen, I mean the filming, and, well, maybe it's out there somewhere.

Robin did you catch the Prince documentary on BBC4 Cocteau got a mention as being a key influence Where thats true or not was ace to here Ivo playing in the background. Is it true that Prince once asked to produce a Cocteau album ? Or is that just one of those great myths ?

I just thought about it a bit longer, and the bit about the BPS (black pudding sandwich) seems even funnier--that almost 30 years later, the sandwich would figure so largely in the memory about the 'lost performance'.
Musta been a DAMN good sandwich!

I do believe that was something which may have been an idea, perhaps at a corporate level, but I can't remember any contact from him personally, which would have made something happen, but I did meet him, once, after a concert in London, but I don't think I registered on his radar. A kind of, 'oh, hi, I think you're great', but, I guess that's what people say after concerts.
Lovely business.

It surely is a very interesting proposition thats for sure But having said that I recent came across the original version of Kate Bush's "why should i love you?" which prince worked on for the red shoes album and i have to say that kates version is far superior to the final mix that ended up on the album So maybe the idea of Prince producing Cocteaus is best left as a fantasy [ of his ] rather than a reality lolol

Agreed. Prince is very talented (though I was never a fan), but he was never even remotely worthy of participating in CT's studio sessions. I shudder to imagine what the results would have been.
