Robin as the meanest? How so?

For years I thought Robin was mean because he said this in an interview:

Softspoken and yet unyielding, Robin Guthrie speaks the most and says the least. For example, try probing him about the origin of the group's name, and Robin begins an explanation reluctantly, "It's a long story. There were these two gay blokes who were into Jean Cocteau and they were known as the Cocteau Twins..." His voice fades off, and he does not want to continue.

Now...when I read this in 1988, I had known and loved CT for a while already, but knew next to nothing about them. You'll notice, he says nothing about the Johnny and the Self Abusers song, he just fades off...and does not want to continue. HMMMM...

Then there were pictures like this... Is that a pink triangle around Robin's neck? That would make sense, SINCE HE'S GAY AND ALL. LOL!! Sigh...

I spent YEARS thinking Robin Guthrie was gay because of that article. LOL!!! I don't think he's "mean" for that any more. :p I was dumb for that.

It was just...nice to have a big gay talented dude as a role model while everybody was telling me I was wasting my life and I'd never really be happy or successful.

I don't picture him mean, maybe moody. I first saw him after the concert in Philadelphia in 1990 I wanted to approach to him but he seem withdrawn or was not in the mood to talk (I cried).

When I met him in 2010 he was very sweet, soft spoken and pleasant.

Will Heggie was the CT basist on Garlands. He left the band before Head Over Healswas recorded. After he left CT Heggie joined Lowlife. I bought Lowlife's 'best of' a few years since. The sound is very CT, with a deep voiced male vocalist.
