Don't get me started on that..........

Suffice to say that the only singing that the Golden Throated One does these days is to the muzak in Wal Mart, just off junction 18 of the M5, near Bristol.

And even then, she'll stop if there's someone else in the same aisle.

I can only speak for myself, but I am more of a vocalist than a songwriter. I've written a few good songs, but I can't force it. I also find it FAR easier to write vocals to music that someone else has written. At one time I was in a band and very arrogantly decided that I could do better without them. Well, I was wrong. Since then I hold my collaborators in a much higher regard, realizing that the greater magic comes from the expanding of ideas beyond just what my own mind comes up with.

All I'm trying to say here is that Liz is now faced with a very different situation than what she is used to doing. I feel it is much harder to write your own music with the same satisfaction that comes with writing in a group, although I know there are those who can do it and do it very well. I don't know if Liz is working with anyone (in a songwriting sense) for her solo effort. Whether she is or not, this has got to be like going into a foreign land for her. She is embarking on a full length album for the first time without Robin and Simon. No matter who produces her, it is going to be a far different experience than the years she spent with the Twins. Not to mention the pressure she must feel, real or imagined, to live up to her own reputation. She is the one who must be satisfied with her work first. This may or may not be done without help. It's definately hard to wait, I'm right there with you, but then I think that this solo project may very well be the hardest project she's ever done. I hope that I'm wrong about this, and that she's finding herself fulfilled beyond expectation. You just never know.

(raps desk with fingers in an agitated manner)

New album? (twitches at the corner of one eye) New album? (lifts cigarette to mouth with a shaky hand) You reckon? (dribbles from one corner of mouth)

I feel a rant coming on, possibly accompanied by random acts of violence.........

Phil, thank you. In my twenty-something years, I can count the times that I have uncontrollably burst out with laughter, on my fingers and toes. Now I shall go wipe off the tears streaming down my face...

Didn't mean to get you all worked up, Phil! Hope you didn't break anything irreplacable while I was gone. I was just trying to make a point. I said alot more than just the "A" word. Believe me, I'm waiting too! When I heard that they broke up in the middle of recording and that that alb.....uh, er.. "A" word would not be released, I sobbed! I've also often wondered what their stuff sounded like that never made it to print. In the process of writing for all of their past albums (I said PAST albums. You have these. Calm down!) how many songs did the public not get to hear? If they put together an albu..... um... a concise collective of demo songs and jam sessions, could you imagine? I mean, really! Robin, Simon, if you are listening, know that the riots that would ensue at the music stores would rival when people went nuts for 'Furby' or 'Tickle Me Elmo' during past Christmas seasons! The continued growth and support of this fan site proves that! So Phil, I share your pain. And know that you crack me up! So again, deep breaths. In................ out................... in................... out................ But you know, words can only do so much. Phil, I think it's high time that you, me, and anyone else with any experience on breaking and entering, go to Robin's house, grab him, take him to Simon's place and DEMAND that every bit of ADAT, hard drive, reel to reel, or cassette ever to grace the Twins' sound be released to the public. This includes any answering machine messages that they have ever made, too! So what do you say, Phil. Are you in?

i'll try again with this queston.... what is crisco?

zed
Sep-14-02, 10:52 AM
S........

quiet simply put, crisco is a man made fat substitute, not unlike margerine.

but it's designed to take the place of lard in frying and baking.

it's extremely greasy, terribly bad for you, smells awefull,

and has been known to be used as a personal, umm, lubricant.
(shudder......)

Ok?

ian, i already answered your crisco question in the original thread you asked it.......located here (http://www.herb-bauer.com/~leesa/cocteautwins/vBulletin/full/showthread.php?s=&threadid=179&perpage=20&pagenumber=1)

Ok, I can see that my unnatural affection to Crisco is causing grief to others. So, as hard as it may be, I will take my Crisco, put it in the cupboard, and leave it there. :(

Sep-14-02, 1:46 PM
awww but luci, think of all the fun you'll be missing out on........and we'll surely miss your reports and updates on its varying uses! ;)

Lucibelle
Sep-14-02, 3:40 PM
Ha ha haaaaa!!! Woo hoo! Ha ha hee hee ho ho hooo!

Oh, Mmmender, I had to wipe the tears away I laughed so hard!! I have NEVER seen that on a Crisco label before. "it's digestible" Well Jesus Christ I HOPE so! I mean, it's only a COOKING OIL for God's sake!! "Try new 'Petroleum Crisco', or how about 'Lead Paint Crisco'"

That was priceless! Oh, whew! I have to go lie down, now!

For baked goods that have a buttery flavor, try Butter Flavor Crisco

i just like this line from the maker's blurb that mmmender posted.
i mean to say, what else would you use.... Goat Flavour Crisco? Cabbage Flour Crisco? Sperm Flav.. oh no, hang on, some of you might actually go for that one! ;)

p.s. thanks for letting me know what this stuff is and about its many possibilities, as a foodstuff and otherwise. it actually sounds much less dangerous (and more fun) as the latter!
