is there any one part of any CT song, that you just can't get over. Everytime you listen to it... you cant resist skipping back those few seconds to here it again.
for me the part in Serpentskirt (apart from the whole song!!!) at 02.40 and 03:06 mins on the song, its the second phrase of the bridge... before we get into the final verse and ending. The part where liz just seems to sings "and the memory..he seldom we can..oh o ho ow... he seldom rains..." it's the oh o ho oh bit that gets me every time... it think it is truely amazing. and possibly second is the last part of the song.... shit!!! what a fucking amazing song..
what's yours??
Off the top of my head, there is a bridge towards the end of "Orange Appled." It is right before the last chorus of the song.
The drop-dead gorgeous chord progressions kill me every time. Sheer genius.
the first musical phrase of holv......and the near the end of i wear your ring. bbbrrr.

The ending of "Spangle Maker", I think.
Theres something about Aikea-Guinea that grabs hold of me, screws me up into a ball and throws me into a corner when its finished and then snarls "Play me again ya bastard ye" - which I cant explain (nor why a song talking to me should be in Glaswegian either !!)
Lately very much for me it is the part of 'Feet Like Fins' where the percussion and guitar flourish come in...just gives me shivers...
I like reading people's moments as well, and I recall this popular idea was visited last may(and am glad to see it come up again), here is a link for those interested:

Yes, E-Lo, Orange-Appled does it for me every time. Right now, Tranquil Eye is just kicking my ass, especially the two layered choruses in the middle.......brilliance.
I'm into Treasure again at the moment due to buying the remaster and there's a bit in the intro to Donimo that I never noticed before (shame on me) which sort of chokes me up. Its the second time the vocals come in, the second line (which sounds like "Okee pokee ken-o-kek") is repeated in a high, innocently angelic voice over the third line ("Oka-poka Donimo"). It's in the right side of the stereo. I had to listen to the original album, thinking this bit might have been added to the remaster, but no, there it was on the original aswell, for some reason all of the thousands of times I played this song it just passed me by. Now I love the song even more and I just have to keep skipping back. When I play it the song lasts for hours now. :music:
Has to be the end of Donimo for me , when the drums and guitars kick in. I remember hearing for the first time and saying something like "FUCKING HELL" and then lifting the needle back and listening again. Listening to it now on cd i still get that "FUCKING HELL" feeling down my spine :)

Yes! That is an amazing part. Sounds like some sort of otherworldly gypsy music.
For me it would have to be the part in last track of Moon and the Melodies (yes I know it's not a true CT album, but Simon, Robin, and Liz are all present, so that makes it close enough in my book -you know, walks like a duck, looks like a duck, etc...), Ooze Out and Away, Onehow, when Liz goes from the dreamy whispering and cranks up the volume while the percussion kicks in followed by a beautiful piano flourish. It's simply electrifying.

Yes, another favorite moment! It's almost like the song is having an orgasm. Hmmm . . . come to think of it (no pun intended ;) ) with that song title maybe thats what they had in mind?
And WTF is she singing? Sounds like "See-see bough . . . see-see bough . . ."

great description by the way :)
And I totally feel the same about Ooze.....when those drums come cascading in like that...I found the period of Victorialand, and M&M to have her most eloquently indecipherable words ever too, at least some of my favorite, followed closely by TD/Echoes...I guess I mean they sound so natural....again with the otherworldly, but in the language sense...something she excelled at in general.

tough question erinn!
i'd have to say that distinct chord change found in squeeze wax. when you hear it for the first time it nearly floors you. similarily the chord changes in summerhead are brilliant, as is the way it begins....almost like a slap in the face.
i'm sure i can think of more......

Although it changes from time to time, I have to say for now it is near the end of Pur on Four Calendar Cafe when Robin has to sqeeze in some intense distortion. Maybe because it is the only time Robin cranks it in on the album or because he does something really, really inspired but, that part he plays near the end sounds other worldly, unlike anything I've ever heard. The only way I can describe it is that it sounds what it may be like stareing into the sun and not going blind or deaf. Anyway, I told you it was hard to describe.

The opening to Great Spangled Fritillary takes some beating.

The piano chord (I haven't tried to replicate or play it yet, so I don't know for sure what it is, but it sounds like a minor seventh) between the 'chorus' and the 'verse' in "She Will Destroy You".
The vocals before the drums come in on "Frou Frou Foxes".
The vocals on the drum-accompanied section of "Four Fou Foxes"
The second 'chorus' of "Itchy".
The very Yes-sounding guitar bridge in "Violaine".

Well, that's where you're wrong, Ms Freeman...only this very morning, someone offered to look for a plot for me in the graveyard of (aptly) St Philip's Cathedral in Birmingham. They also offered to help me into it in the very near future.
Some people just can't stop giving, can they?

This is most difficult, and getting moreso with more thought, but the best way for me is to say the first few.
Donimo, the second part, (technical term)
The intro vocals from When Mama was a Moth,
Five Ten Fiftyfold,
The skat part of Multifoiled.
There is so much more.............

when "the spangle maker" breaks open. . .
With the remasters I keep on discovering new stuff that I hadn't heard before. Like in a i k e a -g u i n e a .
During the "verses", underneath the angelvoice, she sings prolonged notes in a much deeper voice. Had not discovered that before. Keep skipping back1:clap: :music: :diva:
whoops. . . forgot this one. . .
probably the quickest to do it ever. . .
the two drumbeats at the beginning of "seekers. . ." (particularly on the BBC cds).
what's that, 1.5 seconds?

There`s a song....
It`s very kitsch, it reaches some extremes.......Primitive Heart,
that almost sound like a song recorded for some eccentric kid show.
I like the change of melodynear the end becomes it suddenly feels sad and not the kid music anymore.
Of course they are tons of "better" chord and melody changes in Cocteau songs but I like this one cos...dunno, it`s ackward....it`s like the song you hear in hospital in your old days when you all forgotten about Cocteau because of an ACV. It`s really remote...grandma material.
Actually...the ending part of Circling Girl has a similar kitsch effect.
Songs from that period Cocteaus were getting done and forgotten. Songs you are not supposed to appreciate, you know ? Cocteau beyond cool: Very Roccoco material....fabric doll girl music.....I think I`d have a party of the publicly admitted worst Cocteau Tracks...
More on the "cool" side: I luv the switch of vocals in Fifty-Fifty clown...that sounds just like the perfect Cocteau response to Corporate Radio pop music.... But this time it`smore like they would take the Celine Dion sound and turn it into something interesting. There could have been a whole album of this type.
Slightly funk. Perhaps they`d make a real hit this time.
Cheers,
CED
I feel the same about the vocal interplay in Fifty Fifty Clown....
Lately for me the Simon Raymonde tune,
"Worship Me"
The guitar chord right as the music changes prior to Liz coming in, with many quivering moments right up to the end. I think this song may be my favorite post CT tune worked on by one or more of its members. Lizes singing really gets to me emotionally, as does the whole song to an extent.
