I only thought of the u.s. because of her work with Armstrong and Goldenthal, also there seems to be a (worring?) trend -D.Sylvian, R.Sakamoto, D.Gahan, M.Self, D.Bowie,...

i'm sure there are quite a few of us here who could post all three bands members addresses and phone numbers but that would just be very wrong, so we'll drop that subject quickly!

alan, to answer your question about siobhan - as far as i know she's a londoner.

Thank you, mate.

And yours (plus copies to everyone else I've promised stuff to) will be in the post tonight. My apologies for the delay - what with a lack of a working CD burner, a band-mate with a memory worse than mine and me being off sick for the last two days, I've been lagging behind a bit.

I guess what I was really getting at was the origin of her name (first and last). I'm guessing her last name (de Maré) is French, but I don't know about the first name.

np: Faye Wong - yang bao (sunny baby)

The name is Irish and, as I posted here or somewhere else, pronounced "Shuh-vorn" or "Shuh-vaughan".

There was (if my memory is firing on the correct set of gaskets) a daughter of Maeve, Queen of Ulster in the 5th century B.C. called Siobhan.

Maeve's claim to the throne of Ulster was challenged (so the legend goes) almost single-handedly by a knight called Cu Chulainn (also known affectionately as "The Hound Of Culann"), a famed battlefield butcher, who's name is pronounced "Coo-hull-an", which is the supposed origin of the name "Callaghan".

There...time for a lie down.

Is'nt the correct pronuniciation SHER-VON? Or is that my Caledonian slant rearing it's kilted heid?

More accurately, it should be pronounced "Sho (like 'pop' with out the last 'p')-vaughn".

I remember when I was reading the trilogy of The Van, the Snapper and the Committments when on holiday. If anyone has read any of those books they will know its mostly dialouge (sp?) in a Dublin accent with probably more shits, fucks and bollox per page than any other book(s) Ive ever read.... but so funny with it. I think the kids learnt so much bad language from me that holiday as everything I said seemed to be punctuated with an 'ah bollox' - the power of the printed word huh.

Pity Roddy Doyles gone all serious now as he was a great comedy writer - oh look another Irish political book - great we really needed another one....
