OK, you're given the oportunity to play one Cocteau Twins track on mainstream radio, the idea being to attract as many listeners as possible to become new fans. Which track are you going to pick?

...as much as i'd love to say any number of songs......i think something like bluebeard would more'n likely appeal to a broader mass of people.......it has a slightly more "normal' feel. heavily qualified of course.

" what the fuck she sayin mable??"

I think something upbeat and relatively poppy like Summerhead would do the trick...

I hate to say it, but I second the vote for 'Bluebeard.' I would also say 'Summerhead.' Really any song with a 'traditional' song stucture, commecial 'hooks', and somewhat understandable lyrics.

This is the (mass) public we are speaking about.

"Are you the right man for me? Am I safe with you my friend?"

vs.

"Safe and warm in my body armour..." At least that's what I get out of Summerhead! ;)

Pur is my favourite track, and I've little doubt that's what I'd choose if it was a request show. I'm not sure however if it's actually the song I'd play to try and actract an audience. I'll agree with the others that the songs that were released as singles (or promos) are probably the most likely - Bluebeard, Heaven Or Las vegas, I Wear Your Ring, Iceblink Luck, Summerhead & Love's Easy Tears (often overlooked as it's not on an album). I'd also add Cherry-Coloured Funk to the list of possibles, and if it was a slightly more 'rock' orientated audience I'd probably add In Our Angelhood, Lorelei & perhaps even Peppermint Pig. As to which single one, hell, I dunno - that's why I asked!

Fotzepolitic Is Your Champion, Your Hero!!!!!!

The anthemic qualities of this song have engendered a reverie in me, that of skating with a facsimile of the Stanley Cup - in conjunction with this song - if the Philadelphia Flyers win it all......

Hmm... Bluebeard was the first song I listen on a local (commercial) radio.

I listened "Carolyn's Fingers" about two days ago on a what-so-called alternative radio.

Still I think Bluebeard would appeal more to listeners (as it did to me...)

Fotzepolitic... or... Carolyn's Fingers. I'm not really all too sure that those would attract many though.

I could hear "I wonder if this band like the Cranberries?" already.
