i know some of you did other things than just club violaine/19 crescent or coachella - how were your vacations?!

i took a leisurely trip to san francisco with some friends on saturday/sunday, i'd thought i'd share a few of the pictures from across the weekend: i wish i had some with you guys from friday night but i left my camera in audrey's trunk!

emily and o'malley's bar (nick cave reference)

audrey's husband jan

http://tinypic.com/4tpkly

audrey, who can look good doing anything

http://tinypic.com/4tpkr7

gory photographs of pope john paul? girlish delight!

http://tinypic.com/4tpl4x

i deleted the embarrassing one of me that emily took and made her take this one instead, hahaha

on the coast (it was so beautiful/inspirational; completely what i needed to see)

http://tinypic.com/4uba5s
emily and i feel that this photograph best represents our feelings about san francisco, lamest city on earth (for some reason, we just didn't have much fun there. it was full of crazies and we were all very tired)

SQUIRREL WHISPERERS

http://tinypic.com/4ub40g

audrey and i, san francisco

http://tinypic.com/4ub4e9

emily and i rode the bus for ten hours on sunday/early monday morning with a horrible bus driver and screaming children. her face explains our feelings on the matter quite well.

http://tinypic.com/4ub5vk

emily and i with our favourite for the weekend (mansun 'kleptomania")

http://tinypic.com/4ub63a

we returned to audrey's empty apartment at 4am. we opened the fridge, finding nothing but hot pockets and vodka. so we had breakfast with nicky wire (manic street preachers) this is easily the best picture of all time

http://tinypic.com/4ub6a1

and we drew 'entirely accurate' portraits of ourselves on the bus early in the morn (mine are on the left, emily's on the right) (please note the pink and orange "COCTAU TWINS" shirt on emily's version of me. HAHAHA)

http://tinypic.com/4ub6o9

fat pile of stuff i picked up in california - cocteau twins vinyl 'garlands', 'lullabies' and 'treasure'*; dewdrops records 'half-gifts: a tribute to cocteau twins' procured for free at the RG show; manic street preachers 'the holy bible' remasters; mansun 'kleptomania' set, cocteau twins 'tiny dynamine/echoes in a shallow bay' which i've never actually owned before**; mansun 'six', nick cave and the bad seeds 'b-sides and rarities'. ross also gave me robin guthrie 'drifting a.f.u.' which i haven't had a chance to listen to yet! emily has gotten me hooked on mansun, brilliant thing that she is!

* i've never had any ct on vinyl previously so i was really excited - it is impossible to find here. i mean, literally impossible.
** minnesota is a crap place to buy anything

it was a great time but too short - please tell me about your adventures! i hope you had some!

ross also gave me robin guthrie 'drifting a.f.u.' which i haven't had a chance to listen to yet!

i actually prefer this to Imperial, it's brilliant!

but you have to watch out for those squirrels; i just heard on the radio the other day that people in Oregon are being attacked by gangs of squirrels (no lie!) cuz too many people are feeding them and they are becoming less timid!

Thanks for posting the pics! Aren't road trips fun?

"minnesota is a crap place to buy anything"

I found that line amusing, considering the Mall Of America is right up the road there...but then again, I think that just proves the point.

May-4-05, 12:23 AM
we actually didn't give the squirrels anything; emily and i crouched down to see if they'd come over and they did, sassy little things! i believe that though - i bet they can be right vicious! i was almost surprised that they didn't try to bite us... you know, i figured they probably thought we did have food.

i'm going to listen to 'drifting a.f.u' now, i think!

the mall of america is such a shit place, i hate it! there's nothing worthwhile there. it is full of mallgoths and really loud and rude people. i don't even go there anymore unless it is wintertime and i want to walk around somewhere.

PS there are more pictures in my journal if you want to see them!

It certainly is - that drive has to be my favourite - I've taken that road twice, now and I can't wait to come back :)

Not in the San Francisco sense of the term, you aren't.

SF is a neat city, but true, it is full of wackos, psychos, and freaks (oh my!)

Remember this guy?

Really? That's Frank Chu! I think he hangs out exclusively in the financial district though.

Just Google search on his name. That'll give you some idea about how famous he is. He is WHACKED.

Thanks for sharing Alli,
Market street is the wacko-center of SF...I feel at home in the Elcerito del Nord area where people love their gardens. My grandpa lives there. Last time I visited was to see my friend Jocelyn Lawrence. She worked at and lived upstairs in the loft of the Vorpal Gallery facing Nob hill.

you're welcome!! i'm glad everyone enjoyed it.
i don't know where we were during the weeked other than haight street, because emily and i whined about the outrageous prices at this boutique 'wasteland' that audrey really likes and then i spent like a hundred dollars at amoeba music :O

I second that!!!

-only don't be afraid to be however you want to be whenever you so like...experiment and experientializing is fun so long as you remain self-forgiving and unwilling to make mistakes repeatedly that bring regret.

My regret at the Guthrie show was not giving Alli a hug when I met her. I sure never hope to repeat that again. :spear:

We meant to...that's real and the important thing anyways...not terrible of you...that was a very strange day and evening for me...I wasn't able to operate coin machines (a first) and felt social anxiety...go figure being such a hermit the last seven years. You are so adorable Alli. Will you accept this long-distance hug? :comfort:

Maybe that's why, I never really go down to the Financial District. That and around that area, down by Market there are so many whack jobs...I guess I've just learned how to tune it all out.

of course! i was very, very nervous and a little out of my mind that night too, so i apologise & thank all of you for your kindness towards me. the stress of a vacation where i was meeting EVERYONE for the first time, even the gals i was staying with, was so stressful, but i did pretty well overall!

Since jacket yeilded non-sufficient pocket room I should have brought flash paper over flash bulb non-realities...memory was on sabbatical that morning so nothing of my travels (Robin Guthrie Show) snapped...heh...plumb furgutt.

I will take some desert wildflower photos. How do I post those **MOD HELP PLEASE** This winter sprang for them heavily so has recent spring days ago too. Kumba Mela Tsunami'd the resultant high axis spin anomoly sporting square miles of uranium orange poppies through raunfalls upon the High Mojave Orographic Desertlands. Best rainfall since Thacky can remember 'em...well, comparable to `82.
