If you turn the volume right up at the very end of 'Kookaburra' you will hear a voice saying something like "There's something in here."
I first heard this on the twelve-inch single, and again on the CD single from the UK box set. I have the seven-inch single, with extra drums on the beginning, and have owned 'The Pink Opaque' on vinyl as well as CD, but I can't swear to the appearance of the speech on these formats.
Can anyone else hear it?
Or is it just me?

Just me, I guess.
Well, I've heard something, but I don't think it's a voice.
And what about this extra drums stuff? One people say 7-inch version has one, other just deny it. Make your mind folks!

There is definitely a short drum intro to the seven-inch version of Kookaburra. This does not appear on any other format that I'm aware of.
As for the voice, all I can suggest is that everyone puts on headphones, turns up the volume (at the end - we don't want any cases of hearing loss) and reports back on what they hear.
I hear a female voice, saying something like 'There's something in here.'
I did it, and there are two sounds (there is also echo effect, so we have 4 sounds): first is probably Liz's voice, but i'm not 100% sure (something like "s" vowel), another one is just knock or clatter... That's my opinion...

(sound of telephone dialling)
Telephone operator's voice: "Hello, how can I help?"
Phil: "Yes, is there some sort of public health organisation I can speak to? It's very urgent."
Operator: "What seems to be the problem?"
Phil: "I think I've just detected an outbreak of BTSitis - a really virulent strain, too."
Operator: "Is that serious?"
Phil: "Serious? Look, doll, if I don't get the authorities mobilised soon, you won't be able to move for Canalettos and a heap of pre-Raphaelite carvings."
Operator: "A bit like Southern California, then?"
Phil: "Much, much worse - have you ever visited Knightsbridge?"
Operator (with a note of panic): "I'll put you through....."

I sometimes feel like I'm living in a "Benny Hill" sketch.
