Robin on VINYL!
I just learned that Darla Records (http://darla.com/) will be releasing two of Robin's collaborations with Harold Budd on vinyl!
Street date: May 22, 2012 Robin Guthrie & Harold Budd "After The Night Falls / Before The Day Breaks" - Limited edition of 500 black vinyl 2xLP in gatefold jacket with download coupon. Robin Guthrie & Harold Budd "Bordeaux" - Limited edition of 500 black vinyl LP in gatefold jacket with download coupon. These might not be on your wishlist for vinyl release, but it's better than nothing at all! |

these were supposed to be released on 5/22, but i have yet to receive anything. normally Darla ships out beforehand, so you have them by the release date. i just sent an email asking what was the delay, but i was wondering if anyone here has received any of these?

Hi Adam, Vinyl sometimes gets delayed in manufacture due to unexpected production errors. That's it. and from newsletter: One of 12 sides of the three Budd, Guthrie/Budd 2xLPs had to be re-cut causing a delay. All fixed now. We expect finished product in and ready to ship before the new 7/24 date above. Thank you for your patience.

It's getting hard to keep up with Robin. I only have so much $$. Not that I'm not glad he's shifting units. He deserves a comfortable life. It just takes time to digest his records. It's always worth it, but, like I said, it takes time.

Heh, try following Bill Nelson. He's like Guthrie squared. Not entirely in a good way either. Dude puts out like 4-5 full albums a year. In a recent Nelson biography, David Sylvian said something like "he's a bit reluctant to self-edit". In other words: too damn prolific, and not all of it is A-list material. I love him and his stuff, but there's no way I could afford to buy all of it. I'm probably 7 or 8 albums behind at this point!
I do buy all of Guthrie's stuff though. (even if I haven't listened to the last one yet) |
