It's getting hard to keep up with Robin. I only have so much $$. Not that I'm not glad he's shifting units. He deserves a comfortable life. It just takes time to digest his records. It's always worth it, but, like I said, it takes time.

Heh, try following Bill Nelson. He's like Guthrie squared. Not entirely in a good way either. Dude puts out like 4-5 full albums a year. In a recent Nelson biography, David Sylvian said something like "he's a bit reluctant to self-edit". In other words: too damn prolific, and not all of it is A-list material. I love him and his stuff, but there's no way I could afford to buy all of it. I'm probably 7 or 8 albums behind at this point!

I do buy all of Guthrie's stuff though. (even if I haven't listened to the last one yet)

saw this today in my Darla Records emailer:

Robin Guthrie & Harold Budd -After The Night Falls/Before The Day Breaks (two albums in one package) 2xLP (Darla) Exclusive: The Universe. Release date 7/10.

Does anyone know what this exclusive "The Universe" is? this is the first i have heard of it....

and still waiting on my pre-ordered vinyl!

For some reason I first read this as "listening to Robin on vinyl while sitting in the bath".

Though that would be really nice too.

I got my vinyl a little disappointed. The corner of the album covers totally bent...oh well

doh! sorry Jose... i hate that -- it happened with my copy of "Mirrorball".

i got home on Friday to find that it had rained at my house, and UPS had left the records leaning against the french doors on my patio, but they had fallen over and the box was wet! i was worried they would be ruined, but when i opened the box i saw they were both shrink-wrapped, and that had held the water at bay. whew....

so, yes: very lovely. nice packing... but did "Bordeaux" really need to be stretched out to two discs? i felt like i had to get up to flip the records over far too often....

still: pleased.

I guess it is not worth the aggravation in getting a new one. I think they made Bourdeuax" four sided I guess for better sound quality and space?

Correct. 2 LPs - it's not that bad, last Metallica album was pressed on 5 LPs.
Regarding "Bordeaux" and "Day/Night" - I think that quality of sleeves is not impressive...

i was disappointed that there was nothing new -- no extra photos or liner notes. it is the same as the CD versions...

okay, that _is_ weird.

just kidding -- you like what you like, no use trying to justify it.

No, that really is weird.

But hey, we're a weird spectrum of unusuals anyway. I like bluegrass; go figure.

I've always thought there was a connection between fast metal, bluegrass and techno.
