Once and for all, your fave full-length album
Cocteau Twins albums are like signposts marking eras in the history of the band. (Although, more often than not, the albums didn't proove typical of the era they represented.)
It is truly remarkable that this place still maintains the traffic that it does. Proof positive that CT continues to have a fiercly loyal fan base. Such a fan base is bound to generate strong opinions. So I consider this a prime opportunity to take the temperature of the base. |

Yep. Been Treasure forever. Not exactly a "once and for all" situation.

Close call between Treasure and Victorialand but I chose Treasure, since that was my first CT album ever.

I'm with you, Mxx. I only wish that Cico Buff wasn't on there.

I'd like to change my pick to Victorialand, because I like that one better as an entire album, to play in one go, while with Treasure I tend to skip stuff - Persephone and Cicely mostly.

How oh how can you not like Cico Buff? It flows along with the other tracks.....taking you into blissful oblivion.....or some shit, I dunno

I find this very hard to answer. In terms of the amount I've played them then M&K probably comes out top, mainly because I had it in the car for years, but despite that I wouldn't actually describe it as my favourite. I like aspects of all of them obviously, and my favourite would actually consist of a combination of tracks as I seldom listen to them as complete albums these days. The one I do tend to listen to as a whole however is usually Garlands, so I guess I'd actually have to list that as my favourite, but I have to be in the right mood for it these days.

HOH for me too. I love the vocals; they sound really powerful and exhilarating.

Like bits of HOH but not the whole album. Everybody seems to love Musette and Drums, I just think it's loud and pointless. Tinderbox doesn't go anywhere. But the sequencing seems off too. After WMWM which isn't really a song, but does function as a big intro to the album, you expect something more powerful than FTF. Which is good on it's own, but should be placed elsewhere. Also, HOH is the only CT album with a song on it that I like the BBC version better of: In Our Angelhood. The extra vocals really make the song work better than the original.
IMNSHO of course. Last edited by Ghosty; Nov-13-10 at 12:00 PM. |
