Default Could someone please clear this up for me?

I'm a big Cocteau Twins fan, but that doesn't mean that I know everything about them. I've always thought that Liz mostly sings "made up" words...or that she sort of makes up her own language. However, when listening to CT on Pandora today I noticed that Pandora had the "lyrics" listed. So, have I been mistaken this whole time, or is Pandora wrong about the lyrics? Could someone please clear this up for me?

Pandora is probably dead wrong.

Japanese pressings of some CT albums included full lyric sheets, and they are a Japlish disaster of epic (and hilarious) proprtions. Who dreamt that shit up?

I only know of a few 'official' lyrics transcriptions, all fragments. The inner sleeve of the Head Over Heels LP and remastered CD had two lines each from 4 of the songs. And IIRC, some of the M&K-era 'therapy speak' lyrics showed up as on-screen text in one of the videos. In all of these cases, you could pretty much understand what she was singing anyway.

Everything else is wishful speculation/interpretation by anonymous fans.

Thank you! That's what I thought, but Pandora really threw me for a loop.

just to add to andylama's post

there were also some snatches of lyrics on the original inner sleeve of garlands.

the milk and kisses digipack has some bits of lyrics written on it if you scrutinise it.

i had also thought that the full lyrics to evangeline appeared somewhere?

The lyrics published with the Japanese editions were publicly disowned by the band as I recall.

Not like they needed to...they were ludicrous, as I recall.
